Sounds like we need to look into a few things here, have you been in touch with our team around this at all?

Yes. Got no joy from the consultants on the phone this morning. Reported a fault on Client Zone too. So far I've just received an email.

Could you drop me a PM with your line number? I'll do some digging for you.

Spoke to WA and it seems MTN tech's are trying to sort it out...
In the mean time, I have put my client onto a WA account and his emails are working again ;)

You should be able to use one of our accounts too, just input the Google DNS and you should be sorted :)

AfriGuy, I guess Afrihost has no intention of investigating the intl. streaming issues. I asked for a ticket to be escalated to a network engineer and mentioned the arrangement you had proposed but no further response.

Hey Afriman, there is definitely an issue with streaming and I can recreate it every time. I'm on capped with a 10Mb line. I stream from Twitch without a glitch for an hour + before 8pm, after 8pm it starts buffering like every 15seconds, just for a second or two. Any ideas what it could be?

Guessing they have a shaping profile switch at that time.

Sounds like it, but why is it impacting Capped Accounts? Streaming is a known problem for Afrihost clients, why are they dodging this issue?

Even WA shape their cap accounts...

We don't make any changes to the network around 8pm, so we'd need to look into this further. Do you see differences in traceroutes before and after 8pm, any increase in latency that you've noticed?

Getting "Authentication Failure" this morning. Restarting router doesn't help. Was still working last night. In Cape Town.

Is there a known issue?

We definitely don't ever change our service profiles. Shaped services are never changed, unless we amend the profiles (which we've only really looked at for gaming where there are P2P elements causing traffic to be shaped).

We also only make the change to dynamic shaping after 10pm. But the same services are shaped, we don't ever shape a service which is meant to be unshaped (i.e. realtime, non-P2P service)

EDIT: Just a note, since we're in the Capped thread that talk of shaped and unshaped services only applies to Uncapped. Capped accounts are never shaped in anyway, ever.

There is a n issue with Mobile Data, but we've seen a very small number of DSL clients also affected. We're busy working with MTN to resolve this ASAP.
