Nothing stands out in the traceroute / speed tests - browsing just generally feels sluggish and Youtube videos are buffering for the first time in a long while. Perhaps the router's gone too long without a swift kick to the backside. Let me restart everything and see where that gets me.

That appears to have been it - I'll reverse the order of reboot and check next time :)

On a related note - wanted to commend you guys on the capped account performance. Since switching to AH capped at the beginning of this month, I've had the best internet experience in recent memory. I have a backup account with another ISP just in case, but have not had occasion to use it. Much appreciated!

Afri-people, why is the smallest 2mbps Capped Bundle a 50GB+50GB (@R328 p.m.)? Come November I may want a much smaller bundle than this, maybe like 4 to 8GB of data only...

I am getting the time-outs once again... didnt have this before moving to Afrihost.

Recon I'll be shopping again.

Between 423ms being the fastest hop beyond the router to 621ms per hop to London on Afrihost uncapped via MTN network..something is broken, but Afrihost say Network status all green?

423 ms at your exchange? You has congestion.

Anyone having issues with browsing? It's normally very snappy, but it's laggy tonight.

Speedtest appears ok, but http isn't snappy at all.

possible; but all was fine 2 days ago - now a 6MB driver download takes 20 minutes on DSL "Fast" - hilarious.

Speed Test
Download Speed: 1596 kbps (199.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 433 kbps (54.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 32 ms

remember the days of 56K modems - retro here we come.

Sometimes when the firmware is out of date routers behave strangely.

Will need to see some more results to have a better idea though :(

I think it's probably because to give the kind of discounts we want we can only do this with the higher packages. Our smaller packages are already subsidised to some extent, so it's not really possible to shave more off the price to get an attractive bundle price. It also means we have to carry multiple combinations of data and line in our system, which makes it much more difficult to manage.

Where are you seeing timeouts? Is your connection dropping completely, or is this packet loss on traces / file transfer?

Can I see that full trace? Will tell us a lot to see where the latency originates in the traceroute :(

Speedtest definitely looks great, so it might show us more to see traces to particular sites giving issues.

When I schedule a download, newsgroups, it seems to go constantly.

But when browsing, I keep getting "Page not found" - and I have to keep refreshing for about a minute, then it comes back - 15min later, same problem.

Happens on my laptop, and my wifes laptop, or a terminal session to one of the servers at home (internal session).

Hey AfriMan,

Could you please confirm if there is an issue with downstream packloss. Spoke to ur team earlier and apparently there is some issue that has been happening for a few days, although i only seem to be affected by it today.

Im getting about 20% downstream packet loss, everything checked out at telkom and even tested with another modem
