Not my line.

Send Genie a PM.

Will you look into this or is my long waiting and unpleasant experience still not bad enough to be deemed worthy of support?

I don't think this is the case at all. If AfriGenie is on the case, I know he'll do his best to get something going for you. I will check in with him on this :(

We are still having problems support ticket OPH-647-53479. We cannot even open http://www.cars.com/ or http://www.speedtest.net on this account and can on other Afrihost accounts.

I can open the site on my side, so I think we'll need to see more specific test results.

Will see if the ticket has the info I need. But please PM me as well so we can start working on this as well.

My speeds are still all good but I am still experiencing frequent disconnects in streams.

It is not really noticeable in web pages as the content loads and is static, but audio and video feeds will run for a few minutes and then lose the connection. Only reloading the page and restarting the stream helps. It is the same for live feeds and VOD.

One possible indication that it is effecting web pages is that I sometimes, the URL is resolved and the window blanks ready to receive content but says loading forever. Hitting cancel will often then immediately populate the page.

I have tried both AH and Google DNS servers and a combination of both but the issue remains.
It only seems to affect international though.

Dear Diary

Day 4:
Still on the hunt for elusive 250GB datasteal.. It visits my dreams and haunts my thoughts...
Was close to grasping it but someone other hunter beat me to it, <snip>

I was contemplating a mature reply to this... but what-the-heck

Grabbed something from NZB servers and the speed is looking great at the moment.

The amount of traffic required for most web pages would be minimal, so it's strange to see something like this, especially if you've tested different DNS. Sounds like we may need to troubleshoot this further. My tests are not showing similar issues, but I'll do more YouTube and audio streaming tests as well.

Thanks, It appears to have stabilised now, BBC News is running fine, and web pages are loading promptly.
I will try and capture more details/tests if it starts again.
Intermittent faults like this are a pain but very hard to pin down.

Very strange though. Something like this could really be happening at Telkom, MTN or even overseas peering level, so we need to do quite a bit of troubleshooting to see how this could be happening if it does happen again :(

I suspect it could be a latency issue causing the remote to time out waiting for the client, my latency on speed tests is a bit high and tends to fluctuate but I have not done any traceroute tests.

It just dropped so I ran a tracert as follows:

Not sure what that second hop is but it doesn't look good.

That second hop into the 41.181.53.x network always seems to be the bottleneck.

Tracing route to www.afrihost.co.za [197.242.144.102]

That looks like it's on our network, though it seems fine once it passes the first step on the network portion. Your destination latency is also not great, but your latency exiting the network seems mostly normal. We'll need to look at this but maybe we should give the guys a little more time to finish off what they are doing.

No problem, I can live with it for now, it is an annoyance but not a show stopper, I can still get my work done and the news feed is mainly background noise on a 3rd screen, not mission critical.

Just checking, is everything 100% back to normal?

Its Friday and usually Friday is always a good day. Am I goin to go home and find I cant play some games or stream?

I rebooted the router just in case it helped but if anything the 3rd hop looks worse now.

Not surprised the destination latency is not great, it looks like it hops from Amsterdam to London then new york and las vegas before hitting the server :)

Good Morning

We worked till pretty late yesterday to improve performance and it seems like most of the work that needed to be done is now complete and performance is looking much better from the overall network. I see a few posts confirming that clients here are experiencing the same.

Please keep posting speedtests and traceroutes (with your username) through the day so we can give the technical team this info to help them make any final adjustments they may need to get performance on track for the weekend. Just please also include what your line should be be (the actual sync rate) and post whether it's good or poor so we can get a balanced idea of what's going on.

Still not getting anywhere need the speed I'm paying for - 4Mbps with Capped account. What to do Afribots?

Can I get a update regarding my line please afribots.

With that I want a explanation why for the second time my ticket is 13 hours later still not replied to.

Afrigenie said he's on it... Well he's been in it the whole time and still not the slightest change.
