Hi @afriwhoever here.

Our team looks to have replied to your ticket. Unfortunately, there is higher contention in the South at the moment which could be affecting you speeds. Your line is syncing at 8030 kbps. Not sure if that is the ideal speed.
We are planning on adding capacity in the coming weeks. I know it is rather frustrating at the moment and I am so sorry but we hope to make the addition soon.

My line is actually syncing above that. But I have limited the line speed to 8 with Telkom as that is the sweet spot for me between speed and SNR.

I received a reply today and did what the agent said. Phone Telkom to refresh my port and to reboot my router. Done and dusted, yet, the line is still not performing as it should. Ping and latency seems rock solid. Download speeds are in the 200kb/sec mark. My IS account does full speed, 830kb/sec. Clearly something is cooking dry here?

That alone should say it's an AH issue and not a line issue.

Absolutely. I never contact afrihost if I'm certain it's line fault. I always test 2 other accounts first. If they both act up the same way, I know it's a line/dslam/exchange fault
 
This whole week I've been having issues. Line speed is so erractic. Ping ranges from 57ms to 800ms. I have a capped AH account. Never ever had a problem before.

I've been Telkom carrots this whole week "Sorry Telkom". So today they gave a dsltest account to try and what a huge difference. I can now play Simcity without been disconnected every 5 minutes.

So question is, is anyone else having issues like this? I am based in the East Rand.

This is the capped thread though. If you are used capped you shouldn't be seeing any shaping at all :erm:

It is, and now I see that, but was following on from my previous issue which seemed to affect both my Afrihost Uncapped (MTN) and my Axxess Capped (MTN)...

That latency isn't looking good at all :(
Can you paste a traceroute up here please? It'll give us a better idea on where any potential issues are coming in.
 
When can we expect some feedback ? Weekend was good, but it has already degraded this morning. Thanks.

Please paste up some speedtest and traceroute results so I can have a look at this for you.
The feedback from our team is that realtime services should be operating as per normal.
 
Not getting unshaped speeds when downloading but streaming is full speeds. What is going on? Connection drops to below 1 Mb and I have a 2 Mb line but my speeds drop to 18 KBps and fluctuate a lot but hardly get close to 2 Mb. Feels like I'm being shaped and I've been told capped is unshaped. Please help
 
Same in Parow and at another location in Brackenfell.

I'm on 6Mbps, latency is good, speed tests vary but usually around 1.5 to 2Mbps. Google services and other apps on my tablet randomly won't load. Other times they work again. Most irritating.

Something is seriously messed up somewhere. This started towards end of last week already.

Why are bundled capped users now paying double the price for the same cap than unbundled users?
 
The whole of the past week (since I noticed) I've been getting (at best) 6.something Mbps on my 10Mbps line. This is now, the best I've seen:



Afrihost, when can I expect resolution of this? I'm very close to going back to WebAfrica.

call afrihost support - - oh hang on, bad idea
best option is to move, before you lose your sanity

i did the move, unlike afrihost, webafrica actually have people to take your call & respond to email

Have you run any tests with our team yet? Please paste up some speedtests and traceroutes so we can have a look at where these slow speeds are coming in.

We're in the process of looking at our bundled capped clients. Remember that your line is discounted :)

Confusion comes in when the below happens:

Bundle: 4 Meg Line + 100GB Data = R597
Non-Bundle: 4 Meg Line (R279) + 100GB Data (R199) = R478

Actually losing R119 by bundling your package.

Our team are looking into the Bundled accounts - can't promise anything, but I'm sure we will have something announced soon.
