Seems a lot better tonight, still not on par with my other ISP but it's not anywhere near as awful like it was the past week.

I wonder if they've fixed something or if it's just lower demand tonight.
Dr, please stop posting your speed tests. :)

Looks like there may be exchange issues here :( Are these issues constant?

Hi Afriguy, that was directed at Afriman. Not worried about local exchange, more around that I am in PE and my routing is via Johannesburg to Cape Town where as before it went direct to CT.

Hi Afriman / Afriguy - I hope this Afrihost Capped thread is the correct one to post my query below:

Congratulations on the MTN deal - I believe it will be beneficial to the future of both companies.

Would you please care to comment and offer me a solution on the following:

I have been on an Afrihost capped bundle for the past 8 months that the Afrihost Helpdesk today claims does not exist !

From October 2013 until May 2014, I have been on an upto 20 Mbps VDSL line and 50 GB capped data bundle (this appeared monthly on my Afrihost invoice as a B18955 capped bundle @ R476 per month). That particular price-point was one of the reasons I chose Afrihost in the first place.

Suddenly this month I receive an invoice of R121 more and I have been migrated to a B06751 capped bundle @ R597 per month; a price-point which is unafforfable to me.

I feel this cannot possibly be correct in the light of recent price REDUCTIONS for both Afrihost's Capped and Uncapped ADSL data, and the double data promotion.

It seems like the Afrihost DSL BUNDLE clients are receiving the short end of the stick ?

:whew:

I see Afrihost hasn't bumped my fees yet. My current bundle is a fair bit more expensive now than the price it was when I got it.

Although coming home at night is a schlep because home internet keeps on being unusable every night.

I used to see cpt-ipc-receive as the first MTN hop, I now see JH. Unless the naming convention has changed to confuse us all :)

i.e. news24.com is hosted in CPT. Now watch which way my tracert goes

That shouldn't be the case. Seems like there could be a history to this - perhaps you were in a bundle and upgraded somewhere and the bundle didn't adjust as it should have to the correct pricing. I've asked our Dev team to look into this with accounts and find out what might have happened :(

Fees should be remaining as is, though since we've streamlined the bundles to a much simpler system, there could be some inconsistencies. Especially where the bundles were historically incorrect and are not corrected by the better system. We'll have to look at these on a case by case basis.

I had rubbish Battlefield 4 performance last night... :-(

Ping went from 12ms to 100ms after a disconnect. Really hope it was a once off... I'm on a capped account.

VODACOM 3G remote to Afrihost Capped: Is anyone experiencing routing problems between vodacom and afrihost. When i try to reach our exchange using our MTN simcard it works, but can't reach the same server if I try Vodacom 3G :-(

EDIT: Seems to only be HTTPS traffic which is affected, remote desktop is working.

Just got a response from Critical Care:

Hi ---

Hope you well.

Seems like we did have issues with bandwidth at the IPC, and this was resolved at 09:30am today.

Please kindly test after hours tonight and advise, if everything is 100%

Thanks

Kind Regards,

Sounds promising. Will check tonight.

Hi Afriguy/Afriman/helpful strangers :)

I'm currently on a 10meg + 50gig bundle and the line and data shows up separately in my clientzone as I'm assuming it's meant to.

I would like to find out how to correctly upgrade to the 20meg + 75gig bundle in the clientzone? I phoned tech support but the guy that helped me sounded more confused than I am so thought it best to check here before I screw something up and cause a billing mess.

I'm worried that I will somehow unbundle myself and be charged for 20meg line and 75 gigs at non-bundled rates.

Thanks!
