1 question, from 3 days ago my downloads becomes very very slow... But not random slow like it hits 45kb/s period

And later at night of peak hours I get a 120kb/s solid.

Bare in mind I always did 211kb/s as I posted how happy I am a lot.

So no need for speedtests you know exactly what the issue is.

So my question simple Yes/No

Is my capped service being manage/throttled/shaped etc you get the point.

If that is the case and Here I trust in your honesty and integrity to answer transparent and truth fully.

If it is the case I want to cancel ALL my lines with Afrihost by tomorrow 1pm.

I take transparency very serious as I still have the tickets in print from afrihost assuring me you will never do that.

Awaiting your honest answer

Regards

What I wonder about, is that I can't believe this happened from one day to the other, why didn't AH see this coming ?? Why first go through this 3rd world ****, negative customer experiences, losing customers etc....

On speedtest I can test my line now as well. B+ obviously nothing wrong with my line.

Does Gian still work at Afrihost? I haven't had an email from him in so long I just assumed he left.

He definitely does. He still does the newsletters every month (well, almost). With us moving into our new building and the MTN deal still looming, he's extremely busy. I'm sure you'll hear more from him in the coming weeks, cos we've got some major promotions and competitions coming :)

The simple answer is NO, we do not shape, block or throttle torrents or any services on Capped. While our network is under strain and in need of a capacity upgrade we are seeing some services perform poorly, and this varies from user to user. Some are reporting poor P2P while others also experience poor realtime throughput. We're doing what we can to provide the best experience but we're not doing this outside of the confines of what the products are guaranteed to be (i.e unshaped).

We can definitely always learn where we've not done everything as well as we could have. We did plan for capacity upgrades, but we didn't expect demand to rise as quickly as they did, and this was based on our previous experience towards the end of last year. Network planning on the scale of hundreds of thousands of users is very intricate, it really comes down to a lot of financial concerns and feasibility. While we definitely are willing to make a financial commitment, we need to ensure that we can also do so without passing on upstream costs to our clients in terms of price increases, in fact we're always looking for ways to decrease prices so adding to our costs is always something we hesitate to do - especially since we heavily subsidise our bandwidth instead of marketing or advertising.

40 Mbps line downloading at 60Kbps... I am going make sure every one of my clients move from afrihost.

Can't wait till end of the month and finally done with this sh@t! Can't even open speedtest

Yep my internet has ground to a halt here in CPT. Google image search is loading at 50 kB/s on a 10mb line.

And yes, unfortunately I have to join the chorus of the download downtrodden. My 10mb line is down to a crawl (0.4mb) I'm struggling to browse plain text news websites. What a huge disappointment! And I used to be so enthusiastic about Afrihost.

In the quest for a very transparent answer relating to a straight YES or NO, my dear sir you have gave me a very vague response so perhaps I should rephrase.

The issues I started experiencing are they random? Like you have no way of knowing what the cause is, or are they a direct result of afrihost "managing my line slightly" when the need arises?

See I fail to believe the slow network speed is a random event due to the fact that I picked up a very very clear pattern in your speed the last 3 days, in such a way that I simply can not accept your previous answer, you said "The simple answer is NO" I intrepid that as, generally when afrihost is running well, you do not intervene, but when the network demand calls for it you do.

Is that the case, read what I am asking very thoroughly, I do not want to move a heck of a lot of lines and hosting packages over tomorrow if this is merely a random event.

(what I expect from the answer is the following, a simply NO (if that is not the case), or a human response saying exactly what is done in order for this slow speed pattern, I'm not unreasonable I never have been, If you did manage my line to ensure the network is up, I'll understand it, but what I don't want and the sole reason why I am seriously considering moving tomorrow is because of these vague two way answers.)

My speedtest is fine but my downloads are not going at the same speed... Downloads are erratic and range from 150-250KB/s
I've got a capped account so there shouldn't be any throttling or shaping...

Hence my previous post

Any info from those in the East? Anything to comment on with regards to the upgrade in the IPC? Has your service improved and is it running full speeds specifically p2p?

I'm really sorry that you are seeing such poor performance. We know that we're definitely not showing our best side right now, but I do believe we'll get the additional capacity we need shortly, and your performance will be back to what it has been :(

That's pretty horrible. I know we're seeing poor performance, but this seems to be worse than what we're generally seeing (i.e. if you can't load web pages). I'll be happy to look into this and see if there is anything we can do now to improve your experience.

The simple answer is NO. I wanted to give you some context to what you might be experiencing, but if you want a one word answer,it's NO, we don't shape business or capped accounts.
