Seeing super high latency here. Definitely not seeing that kind of latency on our network right now. Could you please ping bras.afrihost.com as well as your router and post the results?

That was bras, Somebody must've sat on a cable in the exchange :)

So my net goes down for 2 hours. It comes back up and now it only syncs at 4Mbit whereas it used to sync at 5Mbit? I'm paying for a 4Mbit but the point of being on interleave is that they sync you at a higher speed so that you get the full 4Mbit.

So I'm on interleave which means higher pings than "fast" AND I'm not even syncing at full speed? My actual throughput is only 3.3Mbit. Surely it should either be interleave (higher ping) + full speed OR fast (normal ping) + normal sync.

I used to be on fast sync a few months ago and was getting (fast) 180ms @ 3.6Mbit. Then they changed me to ADSL2+ and since then I was on (interleave) 210ms @ 4Mbit. Now this downtime has me on interleave at 210ms @ 3.3Mbit.

So basically worst of both interleave and fast sync.

Afripeople, can you guys find out WTF they did today?

Your first bras ping definitely shows exchange congestion. How long did you run with the 2nd account?

Over the last couple of months the phone support at Afrihost has gone totally downhill. Waiting time is nearly always more than 20 minutes and then you get somebody that shouldn't be doing support. I've noticed a similar tendency at WebAfrica and a steady improvement in Telkom call centre support. I have a bunch of clients with these ISPs with errors than they can't explain.
Is it time make a change and is anybody else any better?

Hi Afrifella,

Please help. I'm done calling the afrihost call centres only to wait forever and get nowhere. I won't bite you with the months of frustration I endured just getting setup, but my latest challenge is upgrading from 20meg to 50 on fibre. I requested 2 weeks ago, my account says I'm on 50 but I run between 15 and 20 still. Please help. Lemme know what info you need.

Thanks,
Barry (Frustrated and ready to cancel)

I have a 20MB line, and am in Cape Town. Something's horribly wrong with general speed this afternoon. Anyone else experiencing this?
