Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

In light of the small capped accounts going away, I'm on the 50GB unshaped capped for R 99. Am I unaffected?

I'm seeing this everyday this week including right now

10% packetloss and 150ping to SA servers xD

I'm just a little pissed off.

Does Afrihost shape normal capped account on a daily basis between around 6-10 pm?

I am Specifically referring to torrent downloads.

I basically cant download anything when i get home after work until 10pm. Kind of suck that i basically am forced to either download after 10pm or get a unshaped account.

Never received my 100 gigs of data. I downgraded to 20 gig package, but with the announcement of no more smaller packages, i was said i would receive 100 gigs for April and May. Think i had data carry over, but never received my 100 gigs. Anybody else on the smaller packages not receive it?

Yep same but tbh, I don't use so much so no big.

Afriman, I want to check with you, is DSTV Catchup and Showmax seen as realtime services? When I start to watch a programme on catchup it load for 30 sec and then it downloaded 1 second of video. Thats me on shapped account and 20mb vdsl.

Seems as if I'm experiencing deja vu from - recall the MTN network fiasco?!??!

... AND if I hear the word isolated I'm going to bloody freek out. So people best read page 80 of this thread before commenting. That should help focus action on this.

So it seems dropping my sync speed didn't solve the problem. Still getting random line drops, but less often now. Any advice Fella?
 
yep we were lucky that it worked longer than 2 days this time but looks like it is back to the ah crappiness again

To which servers are you seeing the packet loss and the high latency?

The shaping on the Shaped Capped accounts isn't set for a fixed period. Shaping is applied to the Home Uncapped, Premium Uncapped and Priority Uncapped before any shaping is applied, and then it will only be as little as possible.

How do your speedtests compare during those periods? Are you seeing any increases in latency?
