Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

So I sent Afrifella a pm on Thursday which he replied to and then i replied to him, and since then nothing.

Doesn't really surprise me to be honest

AfriFella is on leave until tomorrow, if you PM me your query I can follow-up for you.

I use google dns for all isp accounts. I was too lazy to switch again. I will check on the next launches (Soyuz 22 Feb / Spacex 28 Feb) and provide some feedback. The streaming was via youtube on SpaceX chan.

Great! Thanks. There shouldn't have been any issues with the Youtube stream, with the Google DNS you may have been pulling the content from an overseas server which could have affected performance a bit.

Is the Soyuz carrying crew or supplies to the ISS?

I'll try with AH DNS next time. Thank you for the feedback.

I believe Soyuz is carrying supplies from the sparse info available. Its weird since SpaceX just launched as well.

Ah! It looks like it's a Soyuz-Progress resupply mission, the previous Progress spacecraft was lost when the Proton rocket was lost.

The local cache should not provide a significantly different experience from direct, the benefit of a local cache to ISPs is reduced intl bandwidth usage. I do believe that AH's youtube cache does not work properly, at least not for us in the south, I've had far too many youtube issues recently. I've therefor downgraded my account and will try another ISP.

Mandate has to be signed and I'm using up the Afrihost data, have 250GB to burn through. :p
I have over 750gig data left, don't know what to do with it.
Oh well... Just glad I don't have the stress of buffering and high ping

It really does depend which server the content is being streamed from. From Europe there shouldn't be that much of a difference, but when content is served from the US there can be a noticeable difference between a local server and the US.

:( I'm really sorry that we weren't able to offer you the experience you were looking for.

AfriGenie/man/person, I need help. I already dropped you a PM. My DSL line is supposed to sync at 8Mbps, but it has been gradually declining over the weekend, and I am now sitting at 5Mbps. No amount of modem restarts is fixing it.

Can you please look into it from your side?

I just checked, and I got your PM, but didn't include your DSL line number would you mind PM'ing me your DSL line number.

Yeah so, I can't seem to find any correlation with DNS servers and poor Twitch performance, must be another elusive issue at play (perhaps with the actual video traffic)

However, currently watching a 720p60 stream and it's running quite well. No issues so far this evening *touch wood* :p

Evening guys

So I've recently started having issues with www.rabb.it, my line usage is low and it never happened before but has been happening more and more as of late.

I suggest you sign up trial accounts with webafrica and crystal web and see if your problems go away.

We'll continue to test on our side. I watched a friend's Twitch stream last night and it was pretty decent (took a little while to load properly though).

I'm not very familiar with this service, can you give me an idea of what problems you experienced so I can try to recreate?

I think before we go rushing off in that direction, makes sense to do a little troubleshooting :)

Sorry, we don't have time for that. Only if alternate ISP has same issues warrants further investigation IMHO.
