Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

Not at home at the moment, but before leaving this morning I could not access Imgur or Reddit. When I changed the DNS I did not have a problem accessing those sites.

BBC, TheGuardian, Reddit just to name a few. Been like that since last night for me as well, google dns fine.

Been seeing a couple of complaints about Reddit this morning. We've reported it to our NOC Team and they're investigating, but it appears to be a DNS configuration issue on the Fastly CDN (Reddit side). It appears to be affecting everyone that breaks out at NAP. That's all I know at the moment. :(

Switching to Google DNS will solve this, but isn't recommended unless you reaaaally need to get your Reddit fix. ;)

https://developer.apple.com/ has been unusable for the last couple of days. Initial HTTP response takes around 49 seconds and the rest of the content ends up timing out before pages even display.

Same issue on my side. Very frustrating as iOS developer. @Afrifella?

As far as we can tell this is affected by the same DNS issue with sites that use Fastly CDN. Our team are investigating to see what can be done from our side :(

You _are_ aware that you are the only ISP in the entire country that has this problem right?

Maybe whatever silly buggers you're playing with DNS overrides and/or transparent proxies and/or whatever simply doesn't work and you should stop?

Either way, I have a company to run and code to ship so who do I speak to about cancelling my account with immediate effect? (You can forget about the notice period, and if you want to argue with me about it I'm happy to introduce you to a friendly ombudsman)

Check your account if you subscribe to Afrihost plus. I see this month they invoiced the R99 subscription fee and R60 simfy fee separate! My bundle has also been separated for some reason so I've been charged full price for data and line.

AH sort your accounts out.

Crap internet is one thing but double charging people is a whole new ball game.

SO I've just logged onto Clientzone and noticed that it still shows both Afrigreen and Afrihost accounts. (I thought this was going to get fixed last year)?

I'm able to login into both accounts but which one should I be using??

Anymore progress on this? Apps to update but can't event get onto Apple developer site. Other ISP's don't have the same issue. Is Afrihost the only local ISP to use Fastly? If so, it's obviously not working so we give us an alternative!

I'd like to post that I personally have not seen any improvement in the South. Actually it feels worse than normal...

My parents popped over for a visit last night and my dad want to search for something on google. Tried to load google and just kept timing out...he even asked me if I was downloading anything.

Restarted the router and 5min's off at the wall. At least google loaded this time but jeees it was slow...

Settings:
10mb 100gb capped shapped
AutoDNS (169.1.1.4 / 169.1.1.9)

I have since decided to drop the package to the lowest possible until all of this is sorted and started looking else where.

Sorry guys...your team is just taking way to long to sort out these issues..
Well credit when credit due...No problems since the post. Streaming SSport since 8 couple disconnects but overall a very good experience.

Here's the response I get from support regarding simfy being charged incorrectly. My simfy has been part of my AH+ for 12 months now. Can someone at AH please show Steven M how to go back and look at a clients account history before responding with absolute nonsense.

Wow. Also some bad grammar in there, including spelling Simfy wrong

I activated Simy as part of a R1 promotion account. I cancelled both the account and the Simfy immediately after registering.

Yesterday Afternoon I received this same bill. R60 for Simfy being charged on March the 1st, even though my trial is running until march 12th on a CANCELLED account.

I guess I'll have to sort it out from my side. How do you charge somebody for a cancelled service? lol

Edit: Sent a mail, after the ticket system refused to work. Got a response from a human about 10 minutes later. Not too bad for Sunday. Pitty the human could not sort it out, but I am sure the accounts dept will have a field day on Monday - as it appears I am not the only one :)
