I think maybe we should get our Critical Care team involved so they can test with you and try to recreate this on our side. You definitely shouldn't be seeing this ping and packet loss.

Drop me a PM and let me pass on your details to them to start testing further.

Hmmm... that is odd. Can you send me some tests? A traceroute to afrihost.co.za and one to any international site of your choice. Thanks. :)

I used bit torrent the other day to download ubuntu and there were no issues.
As soon as I use Ace Stream Engine(P2P), I get the above **** DL speeds.

When I switch over to telkom, I get a much higher DL speed.

OpenServe have now tested the lines all the way to the property, and they spent the whole morning here testing everything, onsite, trying to isolate any fault here. There is none. Not the router the cabling, the filters none of them are faulty.

Is your network SO BADLY congested that its causing packet loss with capped shaped accounts that use very little data?

They've gone back to the exchange now - but will be here again.

The Afrihost chap that I spoke to over the phone just wants to upsell me products, but the basic capped products dont even work as advertised.

My ticket number will have my Afrihost details on it obviously.

:( The instability I'm seeing on your sessions is definitely being caused by the DSL line dropping the connection. If you ping bras.afrihost.com what sort of latency do you see there?

Current packet loss 4% - we had no internet connectivity at 8am this morning ...zip ...nadha, but all the lights were green on the router - indicative that it synced properly on the Telkom/OpenServe line , and authenticates with Afrihost. and like I said the internal network and the external network from here to the exchange has been interrogated thoroughly... OpenServe will be back on site again today.

Who needs DDos attacks if you have this kind of external network which I NEED to PAY for?

At 8am the demand on your network should be low according to your website. So you should not be shaping this account at all.

Our intention is not to shape Capped Data packages, however shaping can be applied during times of network congestion. When applied, only non‑realtime, non-interactive services will be affected by shaping, to offer the best possible broadband experience.

If you ARE Shaping my account to death - you are affecting my real time services - which I need to have working.

Pure internet NO JOY.... Screenshot-2018-6-26 SAIX HTML5 Speedtest.jpg

Keep in mind the following

The internal network onsite was tested with my router and OpenServe's own router - swapping the routers made no difference - so what does that tell you.

The fault lies beyond the internal network

Either your shaping or OpenServe/Telkom exchange (faulty exchange port) is at fault here...none of the two service providers are owning up to anything to date, but our internet has been down for a week.

Fact and proven - nothing on my internal network is causing this, not the connection to the outside network, not the router, filters, or devices on it, and this connection worked just fine a few weeks back...

OpenServe/Telkom ticket 82CWK180618

So suddenly my internet access is starting to look like it used to look - not there 100% yet; but slowly getting there. Now was OpenServe/Telkom or Afrihost at fault here? All I know is that the fault wasn't my network on site.

It would go a long ay if Service Providers like Afrihost and OpenServe Telkom would tell the truth rather than lie to their customers about who is at fault.

Clearly the fault was NEVER here...the account didn't need to be upsold to a more costly account - between OpenServe and Afrihost the very basic account could not even be maintained as it should have been. And if you read the fine print of even Afrihost DSL lines - this type of issue will continue to be a problem for customers, regardless of who makes the support calls to OpenServe or Afrihost to get a external network related issue fixed, issues that lie beyond the site/location of the client's own internal network at an office or at home.

Have you tried a test account from a different ISP?

Yes, many times, also - if you see the tests above - I attached from different ISPs, but OpenServe tested from here using their own router via their own ISP network - doesnt make my line any faster when they use their own router and run the same tests.

So I'm stuck with a 780kbit/s line speed on Afrihost for now.... although my Afrihost account is for much more than that speed. But if I use Axxess I get 1.6Mbps.

Regardless of anything else this physical line to the exchange ISLAM wont be capable of more than 4Mbps line - but I'm not even getting 2Mbps - so it wont make any sense to throw more money at a ISP if it cant even give me 2Mbps stable.
