Hi guys

I urgently need help. I signed up for afrihost fibre in december and finally had an install done today. The fibre converter box shows fibre is active, I then plug an ethernet cable from the box to the wan port of my Netgear DGND4000. The WAN port does not light up at all and neither does the LAN light on the fibre box. I configured rhe router to use PPOE with the afrihost credentials. I however do not get any IP address, even after a restart of both modems.

Is my modem blown? Or is it simply a configuration issue which I am not doing correctly? Please provide some guidance or help???

Mich appreciated and thanx in advance....

Connect your laptop or PC LAN port to the fibre box and test with a PPPOE connection, if that works then router wan port is bust, if it doesn't then fibre box port might be bust

Also on those netgears you can disable the WAN port and make it a normal port, double check that.

@Syphonx, i have tried to connect a lan cable direct from the fibre box (where the fibre comes out of the wall and into the modem which then goes to the router which gives wifi) the PC identifies a network connection but no ip address. I then use windows to setup a PPPOE connection and nothing?

Well it eliminates a faulty port on the fibre box if the laptop can pick up the connection, I'd try another router, if that doesn't work either you'll need to engage Afrihost support.
