Afrihost increases ADSL value

I have one of these and it appears we are not getting any extra data. What I will be doing though is using the 2-for-1 top ups as needed. I can't complain (unless they start messing with the speeds).

Probably be *4-for-**1 topups (i.e. topup at R29 for 4gb) from now onwards.. but lets see time will tell.

This with the Telkom news about upgrading ADSL speeds and I'll start feeling like a happy camper with my connection at home. Can't wait

what does this mean for those of us on the promotional accounts ? ie the 11GB for R99 etc
to those get increased as well ?

It amazes me when people who take up a promotion and expect it to be treated like a standard deal. You are still getting it cheaper than the new 10GB package. Just goes to show that when Afrihost run a promotion, they do an epic job of it!

So I have been on a 30GB + 30GB Double Special at R570 pm. New 60GB is R475 pm.

Nothing in my ClientZone re upgrade.

One calendar month's notice required, I guess I am stuck with paying more than I should for a month.

EDIT: After querying it with them they say I can switch now and it will be effective 1 May. Thanks AH

i'm sure all promo account holder have asked the same, it's not a far stretch to think that we may get some extra data as well

For those of you wanting to upgrade your package next month, I'd suggest you go check out the pro-rata amount you'll be paying this month if you upgrade the package now in your control panel... and calculate the per GB amount.

Afrihost is a great ISP, and I voted for them in the MyBroadband survey last year. I will not be doing the same again.
Their customer service, from what I experienced, is unmatched by any other company in South Africa. I would never wait more than 25 minutes for a detailed email response that solved my problems every time. I am now with Mweb, and there Uncapped Product (4Mb / s) is absolutely phenominal. I get great speeds all the time, with no throttling.

Afrihosts uncapped products are horrible for a medium to high usage user, and therefore no matter how good the service is, the product lags behind. I am really impressed where Mweb has come, from the days when they were much more expensive than other ISP's, to a leader in the uncapped pricing field. Good on you, MWeb!!
