Afrihost mobile data disappearing

DOwn to 917Mb

Please this needs to be sorted out. ASAP before the new month as then the monthly 2GB topup happens.

This account is for my nephew who is deaf and uses WHATSAPP to let us know of his whereabouts.

I cant keep topping up like this.

Im thinking of cancelling this whole package and rather just going direct with a SP on a new sim and number - if the monthly 2gb disappears like this then I will definitely be cancelling the package.

You will have to go directly with another SP, besides MTN

Why not MTN? Is it an MTN fault?

Im back at Afrihost on a new number since last night and the issue is not happening on this number.
The loss of data was primarily on MTN, actually only on MTN. They supposedly have fixed the issue, so it might be all good now.

i think mine was a different issue.

I have two accounts at Afrihost and my main account was unaffected.

The response from agents was never about it being MTNs fault, it was always the devs will look into it.

The new sim and number on a bigger afrihost package is so much better, the data usage is aligned.

I wonder if this has ever been resolved yet?

Today I got 2 responses to two of my mails I sent on last week Sunday, One saying that i have been passed on to Critical Care...and the other saying that I have already been allocated data...unfortunately I had to respond and break the bad news that the package was cancelled.

Our Critical Care Team will definitely will be checking on your old package to see if they can figure out what happened to your usage.

I am glad to hear that your new package is performing more in line with expectations! :)

I doubt it because yesterday I got a response from an agent saying they cannot check anything because the package has been cancelled already.

Ticket number: #WMS-383-72257

Ultimately, I'd like to come back to Afrihost with the original phone number once I know the issue has been 100% sorted out and not partially, cos each time it's "sorted" out its actually worse than before.

So I know this is a bit of an old thread...but I'm having a similar issue now. This is what happened...

I was having some connectivity issues on my home Telkom LTE...so I checked clientzone to see how much data I had on my Afrihost 8GB package that I use on my phone. It said I had 3.15GB remaining.

So I fired up my WiFi hotspot and connected my laptop. I immediately began having connection issues and after reconnecting a few times I got the "out-of-data" screen when connecting.

I checked clientzone again and I still had 3GB of data remaining so I sent a support ticket. In desperation to get some work done, I changed back to the MTN APN where I still had 2GB of data (which was depleted after 101MB of use but that's another story)...however, my laptop was still displaying the Afrihost "out of data" screen when connecting, even though the MTN APN was selected. I restarted the phone and laptop as well as "forgetting" the WiFi connection and reconnecting from scratch...still the same Afrihost "out-of-data" screen...

So eventually I deleted the afrihost APN from my device (I can always re-add it later), restarted phone and laptop, forgot and reconnected to WiFi and it was working....

then I get an sms saying I've used 83% of my Afrihost data cap and I have just over 1GB remaining....and shortly after that...another message saying I've been capped...this is quite impossible due to the fact that the APN wasn't even on my phone at that stage...

I wonder if this disappearing data is connected to MTN's disappearing data?? But still I need someone to help me out with this because this is my work phone and I need that data back.

That's definitely concerning. I guess is really depends on what your laptop was doing at the time. We audit our records (and MTN also audits on their side) so we're very confident of their accuracy.

Drop me a PM and let me take a look for you :)
