Its Alive!! only took 24hours not 72 like they said. I'm ok with that ;)

Got the 5gb MTN APN whatyoumacallit

Our APN activated product for MTN contracts SIMS is available. And remember that you don't have to buy another 10GB. If you've already got your MiFi, how much do you really need just for your phone? 250MB costs just R29pm, so it's not that bad to had a second data product just for your phone. Otherwise, cancel your 10GB data at month end, and then upgrade the R29 product, that way you can make sure your get your SIM in time :)

Reckon I'll give this a shot... One question though; something I've also been unable to get a solid answer on.... I am an MTN Contract customer through Nashua Mobile. Will it work?

Yes. I am with NM and did it yesterday.

Thanks, that's awesome news!

Nashua works I did mine Earlier in the week...

FYI, I just made a VOIP call from my Cell phone using Afrihost APN and the quality was impressive for my area that has rubbish signal and the fact that I wasn't using compression, this really is going to start making ripples in the cell phone bandwidth market.

Thank Afrihost!

Did mine last night via the Android app. Didn't notice anything different.

Mine fails at 20% 50% downloading. Things seem to be getting slower as more people use their new MiFi toy?

Matter of fact I have connected the laptop directly via the USB cable and then connected the cellphone via WiFi and it shows blue on the laptop and green on the cellphone, both 5 bars.

Using different power methods will alter the device performance in terms of WiFi because of power saving. Power Cable is best, USB is good, and battery will have the most power saving - so range will be most limited.

As long as you're ultimately on the MTN network and your number is provisioned as a post-paid, contract SIM, you can use the APN Product :)

 my mifi is not connecting at all, since yesterday. all it says "Connection failed. The profile is invalid. Please contact your service provider."

Have you changed any of the settings on the device, like the WiFi name or anything of the like.

Try a hard reset on the device and connect with the default settings. Otherwise drop me PM and we'll get it sorted :(

What a pleasure, a week on the Jozini dam catching tiger fish with my Afrihost MiFi all charged and going strong :)
I got speeds from 100kb up to close to 14000kb just depends were we where fishing
The battery lasted all day on the boat (bout 10 hours) and there was about 25% left. Keep in mind that i just did the odd speed test and my phone was on auto update all ( so email and watsapp and so)
I am very happy with this little wonder and the fact that i had the privilege to have mine to take on this trip, thank you Afrihost :)

I played Diablo 3 on console now online and I did not notice any real lag.

Gvery slow tonight

Cannot even get the speedtest on MyBB to complete. Ping >100 JHB.

That is awesome! The MiFi has a lot of uses, but obviously taking it on holiday is a major plus! Nice to know we get great coverage even out in the sticks :)

Fantastic. Ran some tests on Xbox and PS3 myself, was not too bad. Glad to hear others experiencing same. DSL is still the best option for gaming - but option is the key word here :)

The parental units said "no no, our mobile [phone] data will be enough. We don't need the mifi thingy for our holiday". Lol. They've used their monthly allocated mobile data every day since they've gone on holiday. They're flying through this mifi bundle... and best yet, it works in the mountains ^^.

Let me say my experience with Afrihost Mobile and Mifi 80%. As someone on the move constantly and always busy with VOIP/Skype, streaming music etc on my Note 2.

The 10GB provision on my MTN sim is a god send. With this I must give you guys at least 98%.

PS deleted my phones other MTN APNs
