Afrihost Mobile free data promotion

No idea - All I know is that the promo went out to roughly 76763 clients.

Did it say the number on the email customer number 76763

That is very unprofessional if they divulging how many clients they've but it also probably went to clients who have cancelled their services with them as well.

Same here, after reading the forum the REP did say it's only available to MTN Contract holders ONLY which to me is totally unfair, should be across the board, hopefully the separate SIM cards/dispatched by Afrihost will have true value*maybe*

Totally unfair only loyal MTN contract customers can take advantage of this deal :( (Must be partnership deal or to save on courier cost/admin work":P

Afrihost have a reputation already - If I ever signup for ADSL in future I will definitely give my money to Afrihost

Understand what you're saying. Issue is that only MTN contract subscribers can use the APN. So there was no way to offer the same to other clients.

Also remember that if you have a Free MiFi, we've already added over R2,000 bucks in free value in terms of device and subsidised data until end of Feb. That's not even including the Free SIM and free delivery.

I promise that no-one is losing out here. Everyone is seriously winning :)

Not as far as I know. I think it's A LOT less than that. It only went to clients with a contract SIM that could be provisioned, and who did not already have APN signed up on their numbers. Nowhere near 76k, I'm pretty sure of that :)

We would never divulge that kind of info, or target ex-clients so blatantly. This number is a fiction, I'm afraid :(

Hey Afriman,

Where exactly in the ClientZone can I track the progress of having my SIM card provisioned?

I don't think we've activated this in ClientZone just yet. But you'll receive an SMS one we've provisioned your number.

If you got the free APN service for 2 months mailer, your number is already provisioned and you can use the service immediately :)

Thanks. Yes, I've got the free APN mailer but how do I go about setting up the APN on Android 4.0?

How long does the client zone take to update? I downloaded a 1.2GB file, but that doesn't reflect on my client zone...? Hope I don't get a huge bill from MTN. :worried:

AfriMan will give you a more detailed answer, but unless you have "Auto Topups" enabled, I don't think you should worry.

This has been covered on Afrihost FAQ(hotspot feature can automatically use the default apn), rather insert the sim card in a USB/mifi device that way you have peace of mind, query with your provider.

It should update by an hour, maximum. But I can always check that you are authenticated on your account from my side and give you the session log times.

You can also check in ClientZone if you have an IP address on your Mobile product, that's usually a good indicator if you're connected or not.

If it says not available - you're not connected. If it shows an IP address, you are connected. From my personal tests this updated pretty much instantly :)
