Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

Happens to everybody guy. Get yourself HUACTRL on your phone and if you have a Huawei router, you can manually change your bands, which might connect you to a better tower !
What Huawei router do you recommend for strong signal connection? My room is covered by walls my ZTE router only have 1 bar always and it slow .

I have a B618-22d , but they are quite difficult to come by these days. I bought it off someone on Gumtree. I got it because its a CAT 9 ( I think ) Router, meaning it can lock onto two bands and give me LTE+ for faster speeds.

The only issue I have with it ( might just be me), and i had it happen today actually, is that it seems to grind to a halt over time, so my speeds TANK, even though the signal is great, so I have to physically go switch it off and power cycle it to get back to normal speed.

@AfriNatic it seems that if your clients have major signal issues with MTN, that MTN will just refuse to come fix the issue and there is no proper MSA (Master Service Agreement) with MTN either so what is Afrihost just a reseller?

I ask this because after a year MTN is still unwilling to help

Hi

The Fixed LTE and mobile packages are sold as best-effort services. There is no service guarantee in the MSA and it applies to FTTH also. If a tower gets vandalized and MTN decides it's not economical to repair then unfortunately we will assist with cancellation or offer Telkom LTE as an alternative.

Hi @AfriNatic

There are 92 pages before so I'm not sure if this is covered but I'd like to ask;

GF and I are in need of data, preferably MTN data as we both travel the rural areas in WC and I have found MTN to be the best.
We both have R218h mobile wi-fi routers - the Afrihost LTE deal, R49 for 5GB - will that work in these devices?
I'm pretty sure it will but I want to confirm.

Morning,

The MTN Fixed LTE offers do not work in mobile routers. They are location and device locked

So if I put this sim into one of these and use it in one location I am going to be ok or am I screwed out right?

Besides being fixed to a single location. Not for mobile use.

Yes so it's location-locked and device restricted to that list of supported devices. If you insert the sim into a non-supported device MTN locks the sim. If you move the sim out of a certain range of the loaded address the sim gets locked.

This Year the network getting worst and worst. Major Packet Loss.
No matter what Band I try 2100, 1800, 900.

@AfriNatic @Afrigirl I'd love to know an answer to this question, Why is it that every night without fail I lose complete lte connection at 6pm and even a router reboot doesn't solve this issue. I have to wait until morning to actual get to the site and reboot it in the morning.

Does loadshedding start at 18:00?

Any recommended booster antenna installers in the Fourways area. Have a ZTE: 5G CPE MC801A on the ground floor and want a booster antenna on the roof (3 storey building)

Does anyone know if it's possible to access a LAN from the internet using a LTE public IP address? I've setup port forwarding on my ZTE router but can't even ping the public IP, so wonder if access is blocked completely.

Afrihost says it's not blocked but cannot explain why I cannot access my network.

Just got this a week ago. Every night at 8pm the connection goes to **** but signal stays the same. Why is that?
