Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

I missed some of the conversation here, are you referring to 3G failover type stuff? Or having Afrihost APN data working on networks outside of MTN?

kinda yes, but I would like to use my AH ADSL data on vodacom. Similar to telkoms integrated sim

Yoh, I think that's quite a way off. I can't really imagine 100GB of DSL being used on Mobile - the feasibility factors would be way off due to the price margins between what it costs per GB on Mobile vs IPC.

im assuming, that because Telkom has the infrastructure in place, that they can absorb these costs?

It could be, but I believe Telkom also have roaming to use other networks.
I'm using my Google-fu to get a better idea of the offering though :)

Are you guys still working on the WoW EU routing? 250ms isnt the end of the world but I really miss the days of 170 ms :(

Good point iceman, telkom must be losing a ton of money with this integrated sim service, can't see them reaping any profit from it. But AG I'm sure a normal AH mobile data package would be feasible?, It just means being able to run of a different SP's backbone.

AFAIK Blizzard are making/ have made changes to this?
What do your traceroutes look like?

I dont think Telkom is losing much. I think Telkom are gaining in the fact that they are signing up more customers, and their churn is far less with people moving their lines away.

What about ipc cost cutting :) eish, im so eager to see what you guys will be doing. But taking so long. :( lol

Geez, so this setup seems quite complex. I've read stuff about 1 byte being allocated to a wallet?! I dunno...
Anyway, it's a rocking idea - but I can't see this being feasible. We've been happy to lose money on some deals or break even on others. But integrating DSL data across to Mobile will probably close any company's doors.

The cost per GB on Mobile needs to drop substantially before this can be done properly.

Using our APN on other networks is also something we have and are continuing to look into, but it's pretty complex. So don't think that'll happen any time soon I'm afraid :(

Don't know about you..but looks like it has nothing to do with Blizzard?

You're still being bounced around quite a bit here. Blizzard announces different routes for different ISPs, something we can't always control.
I'll pass on your results to our network team to see if I can get any more info for you :)

Thanks a lot. Hopefully something comes of it
