Mr Afripep, swapped to the WebAfrica account after having issues, all the problems resolved themselves. Issue is the hop cpt-net1.ip.adsl.co.za [169.1.5.128] again.

Android updates again fluctuating wildly. On Afrihost account going from 200Kbps to 4Mbps then down to 10Kbps.

On Afrihost 1GB free account staying more stable, but stuck at no more than 3Mbps
Telkom account running at full speed and stable.

-snip

P2P also struggling. Trying to download Ubuntu torrent.

Pings look a bit up and down here.
Has our Critical Care team been in touch to troubleshoot?

Did you manage to grab a ping to that hop specifically?
Performance to that hop was solid for me last night.

Sorry, I didn't swap over afterwards, my bad. Should be able to check tonight hopefully, will get my brother to do it as I am going to be home late.

No worries :)
Was it just 169.1.5.128 where you saw an issue?

That and the hop after, ~20% on the first cpt hope and 7% on the second one. All after that was fine.
It was also always a short issue, ~60% of the time 180ms ping, then a little bit of packet loss to bring it up to ~600ms for a second, then back to fine 180ms. It just causes a pause as the game tries to catch up.

Is the latency only in-game? If there was packet loss on a hop it should show all the way through the traceroute.
If you notice packet loss on an MTR please grab a ping to it.

Didn't bother with anything else latency dependent, so not sure.
Will do.

Okay, I am at my wits end here, I have serious connection issues which no one seems to be able to or want to fix, by the end of today I will seek legal advice on what to do about telkom and their lack of service, and why I am being charged for a service that is unusable, this does not constitute a best effort service, line drop every 30 seconds, I have lost 2 clients this week along with thousands in potential earnings FML.

I have phoned so many times just to get a port reset which resolves nothing, last phone call I had told me there is damage on my copper line which is absolute BS my internet was running fine for a couple of days before and a few seconds later it was just dead, call center operator must have some magical powers to see my line has suddenly been broken, I phoned 5 minutes after the line was "damaged" and it will take up to 2 weeks to fix and I will be without internet until then, Telkom also insists they have 20MBs copper available on my exchange, been there tried that, it doesn't work, I am 1.3km from the exchange, according to them my line can't hold the connection even though it was fine for the 1st couple of days, I honestly don't know wtf they are doing over there or whether they know what they are doing, before this upgrade mess my line was running at around 7.5 - 7.8Mbs on a 8Mbs Business uncapped package, I had 1 or 2 dropped connections in a month, more than reasonable.

I have been moved to a different port which the seconds technician that phoned confirmed because the previous one was broken, I have never had issues on this scale before, I asked the call center agent to move me to my old port or to one that is working correctly, he said it would make no difference but will make a note to give to the technicians, I don't have high hopes for anything happening here.

I have logged so many faults, automated and speaking directly to the call center, out of the 10 or 15, I have received a response twice, I am still waiting for a technician to phone me back after the 2nd reported fault to check up if everything is working that was a few weeks ago. I need help, serious help, not another port reset help, does anyone have contact details of someone who is capable of sorting out my problem? For Afrihost if you guys want to check the fault here is the reference: 561CWK150816

Sneaky telkom technician closed my fault without resolving anything so I had to phone telkom and get them to get hold of the technician so he can phone me personally, still not very hopeful on this outcome. Slapgat

Do we manage your DSL line? It may be worth reaching out to our Telkom Service Manager.

Yes you do manage my line, but I have found it quicker and easier to deal directly with telkom because on most occasions your clientzone support takes a few days to respond, I have now been informed that telkom will be doing routine maintenance on my line between 7:30am to 6pm tomorrow, I have my doubts anything will happen here either, yet another port reset and obviously nothing has changed, 30 seconds later I'm offline again, It surpasses amazement how technicians can just close faults without checking if everything is working correctly, twice on the same fault they closed it, and not a single phone call to ask me if the problem is resolved. Who is the telkom service manager? I'd love to have a few words. The absolute mess that has been created since trying to upgrade is completely beyond ridiculous, one problem after the other and no real help from either afrihost or telkom.

We don't have specific contact details for Telkom Area Manager, all of our queries are directly through our Telkom / Openserve Area Manager.

If there is maintenance scheduled for tomorrow there will hopefully be an improvement afterwards. Please keep me updated, if there isn't a definite improvement after tomorrow I'll ask our Critical Care Team to help you out in getting this resolved.
