Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

I thought one of my network adapters on my motherboard was dying, it's just a coincedence that the internet came on at the same time as i swapped over to my other adapter, the line still seems a little unstable, speedtests are up and down, and a lot of jitter on the line. Speedtests ranging between 3.5 to 7.8Mbs with jitter 16ms up to 140ms.

Do these results worsen in the evenings?
All time the same. In the evening speed down to 4-5M

Bit up and down here.
Could be that things are stabilising a bit though, let's check again in an hour or two.

If you're only seeing issues in the evenings please run tests this evening to post here, it'll give me a much better idea of what's going wrong.

My pings have been good since Telkom fixed something at the exchange, and speeds are okay. However ive also struggled to play embedded facebook and twitter videos. Any ideas? Wifi signal/strength?

Not aware of any general issues around this.
Is the content you're battling with specifically hosted with Twitter and Facebook?

Speed 50Kps. Second time playing from cash - don't test

Speed 620Kps
???

That site still runs on flash player, very unstable and would cause poor throughput on streams. YT runs on HTML5 which has better performance and stability. How ever when I play it on my side it loads in 480p, could be that your browser is outdated or the flash player has issues, might wanna reinstall your browser or delete all cookies and browser history

I hate WiFi stability and all my PC connected to wired 1G switch.

maybe try to delete browser history and cookies, also disable hardware acceleration and try again

WTF? Same website with 3G connection running full speed on the same hardware!

im not sure, but most are randomly uploaded by people. Was just wondering, no biggie, but it plays, then pauses, then plays. Youtube on its own is okay, so is my streaming in general

Ill try this on the pc, but not sure how this works via Phone on the twitter and facebook apps?

Apps need to be reported to their respected designers, or you can reinstall them if you think it might help:)...Could be that you have ad-ware/spyware running on your phone. Its very common these days.

There are no capacity issues.
Please continue to communicate with Critical Care so they can reach a resolution with you.

I really hoped you were right, but it seems support has given up. This is their response.
Code:
I hope that you are well;)

This could then only be shaping on the account as the business accounts are shaped they no longer run with out shaping so the same services as a premium package would be shaped P2P, torrents and downloads.

We try and prioritize the shaping on the business accounts but if there is load on the network during that time for those services then it will shape the services down.

You're welcome to check out the tickets.

Again I don't have insight into how your network runs, but they think it's shaping.

If your fine print says this
Code:
Our intention is not to shape Business Uncapped packages, however shaping can be applied during times of network congestion. When applied, only non-realtime, non-interactive services will be affected by shaping, to offer the best possible experience to users when network resources are strained. Business Uncapped users also have access to the Business Optimisation feature in ClientZone, which restricts P2P traffic specifically to ensure that business-critical services perform at the highest possible levels.
The key for me is that "shaping can be applied", not will be applied every night.

I can just say that I have not had issues with my business account until the end of last month when the YouTube and latency spikes started in the evenings.
