Guys at Afrihost...please save me from Telkom.
You guys already have the bundle package yet I still get dragged down by Telkom because of the damn copper.
You have already saved me from so much stress by handling the adsl part... and your service is nothing less than awesome and I'm really happy with you...but it doesn't really help if my landline doesn't properly work. Logged a call with them on the 29th, phoned again now and the 'earliest' they can 'possibly' (no jokes, the reply I got) was the 16th.

Btw if I enter my address on the fibre coverage for notification I get a "Whoops! Something went wrong, please try again". I can see my area isn't covered I was just hoping the colour of the area would suddenly change you know... :)

The 16th!? That doesn't seem right! Could you PM me your DSL line number and I'll see if we can maybe get this escalated from our side.

Would you mind including your full street address, let me double-check on the FTTH status. :)

Deciding between afrihost and axxess capped account on a 20 mb adsl line. Axxess 12 to 6 am afrihost 12 to 6 pm ( Till end of Nov ) ? I know they basically the same company are there any major differences between the 2 other than more free time.

Dont really stream mostly nntp and dont mind scheduling downloads.

Doesn't look like it... What sort of problems are you experiencing?

Oh, the usual crap like every day... High latency (120ms right up to over 2500ms), and the good old 35% - 40% packet loss... I guess it's been happening to often on AF in CPT lately, this has become the new norm now?

We've got Double Data as well! ;) For our Capped Acounts Free-Time is active for 18 hours each day.

How long ago did that start?

Are you seeing those results affect your speeds and services? Like streaming for example?

How long ago did that start?

15:10 - give or take a minute or three

Are you seeing those results affect your speeds and services? Like streaming for example?

Yes - all TCP sessions dropped / disconnected. I don't use streaming services, so I can't answer you there, but even SSH sessions to remote servers, is sluggish at best.

EDIT: And this is pretty much the same crap that goes on, each and every single night, on AF in CPT. Seems today we just started a few hours earlier than the normal +- 20:00 time slot.

I'll definitely pass your feedback onto our NOC Team. :) Things are looking OK in the Cape for us at the moment, so they'll probably have to look at your traffic specifically.

I can definitely see those spikes you're referring to. :( Your tests have been passed onto our NOC Team to investigate, thanks. :)

Not for one moment am I saying this isn't a AH issue (especially not where the packet loss is local and/or on TATA ma chance's network), but in terms of the UK/US...

Just keep in mind it is elections there, and there are strong suspicions that Russia may be planing some DDOS activity towards the US sometime tonight / tomorrow morning (which will go past the UK). There isn't anything official yet that there are active attacks currently, except for warnings. Things may change during the course of the night naturally.

Weird and strange traceroutes may be traffic that's been rerouted due to an active attack, or as a precautionary measure. But in UK/US land, expecting the unexpected over the next 24 to 48 hours is expected IMHO.
