Hows the new Router?
Good, latency really solid. Yesterday during peak had 189 or 190ms ping, no change at all. On my old router it would keep shifting between ~190 and 220ms at that time.
Going to have a game this afternoon and see what it's like when the Afrihost network isn't at peak, the WiFi latency vs the ethernet is the same on the 5.2Ghz range and about 2/3ms on the 2.4Ghz.
Only issue is the new router reports worse line stats, so thinking of using the new one as the router/AP and the old one just to keep the connection. The main point of this router was that it had a WAN port as well, so if frogfoot finally gets city leave to roll out fiber I already have a perfectly good router.
Speeds are ~30MB/s on the 5.2Ghz range, ~10MB/s on the 2.4Ghz.
Good choice, I have the D7 for a few months now and it's going strong, no issues with it.
Was my second choice, just couldn't justify the extra R400.

AfriReps with the ipc cuts effective tomorrow, any news, surprises etc?![]()
Afrihost director Greg Payne said the first thing they are going to do with the savings is upgrade their network capacity to ensure an improved quality of service.
“Once we have done that, we will see if we can also discount our prices,” said Payne.
“We have received feedback that quality is now more important than price, hence our focus on network quality over the last seven months.”
Yep read that and dont mind that all. Was just wondering if there would be something we would see immediately, but all good.Nothing 100% confirmed at this stage though. This will probably be our POA though.

Still want to see the premium 10mbps uncapped data cost come down to under R500 similar to Axxess. Other than that, i have no issues with the pricing![]()
Yeh thanks, pretty much the only pricing i have an issue with, as i dont think it should be that. But hey, personal opinion.I doubt it'll be tomorrow.
We'll announce something once we've got things confirmed![]()
