Stats look pretty borderline :(
Did you see similar issues on a 10Mbps profile though?

pretty much yes... i upgraded because i thought perhaps it would help me with my speeds, as i basically do mostly streaming. But now im contemplating moving back down and saving some money.

I am going to see if somebody can switch me to Interleave and see how Assia does on the line, but not sure how that works

With those stats ASSIA will have a field day on your line, in my experience it constantly drops the connection and re syncs you higher or lower, if your SNR fluctuates. If its a line fault or exchange congestion, I doubt that ASSIA would be of much help, accept the fact that if your line drops constantly you would then have a valid reason for telkom to investigate your line, this is a long shot but try and downgrade to 4mb and see if your line still drops?, if it does then telkom has some explaining to do, or your exchange is just very congested.

PS: Try to take off on the day they pitch up, and tell them to test your line completely, from the first RJ11 wallbox (at your router) to the SDC the whole nine yards. Because if you not there, they take chances.. I had to show the tech where all my joints were, and the problem was located at my house not at the SDC and he didn't know I had another joint, even though he had all his tools with him that day

Meh, its so frustrating trying to get Telkom to do anything. I tried to get them to check the exchange so many times or to find a fix. It just got to a point where i just left it.

Yeh, but the problem is taking off and them not pitching up. Ive been there before. But i cant complain as im getting a discount anyway, so might as well put my head in the sand and ignore the bad times lol

lol it sucks dude, but hey maybe when telkom starts this new employee Incentive program they might actually go out of their way to help you :D

Krusty, was it a big mission to get Telkom to replace your phone line from the pole to your house, how did you convince them? As said yesterday our house is 27 years old and I guess the line was installed right at the beginning of time. I want to try get them to replace everything, from the pole up to the RJ11 socket in the house. I'm sure it will make some difference to my line quality and eventually speed.

I had to get involved in a similar exercise about 5 years ago, after a neighbour had a company in to "fell" a tree in his yard ... branch fell into my yard and broke the drop wire ....

After 3 weeks, I fixed it myself ..... got some drop wire cable from the nearest scrap yard, checked it out and sommer used the opportunity to run the drop wire better.

Well they did it without me asking, they couldn't find the fault underground, at the exchange or at the SDC. So they decided to replace my cable from the pole to my router and it worked... I know both of the techs who worked on my line and got their numbers stored on my phone and I spoke to them after I got my Ref number, so that helped to speed the process up a bit.

so you made friends. Sweet man :D

Anything after the 2nd hop will be high as the latency is introduced there.
Are the results the same using another ISP?

I don't have multiple accounts with multiple ISP's.

I will see if (when) the problem starts again to use a mate's account to illustrate the point.

yeah,it helps a lot:D

Few years ago I also made friends with a Telkom techie as he was at my place and the neighbours about 5 times in a single month. I had his number and he helped me a few times after that, but then he left Telkom.
