Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

same issues here time outs (southern suburbs cape town), been running the afrihost network program and its been going for at least 45min unable to tracert 8.8.8.8 but if i do a tracert myself i get normal results...

all my p2p has gone red 'connection to closed by peer' or connection refused!!

I have to say that as above my p2p usually goes dead around 5-6pm and wakes up around 10pm but last night only from 11pm and I thought there was no shaping/ limiting on a business uncapped.. ive been told its not afrihost but telkom but telkom say its not them. seems that everyones passing the blame. it would be nice for someone to 'man up' and investigate or at least own up!!

I await your response Mr afrihost...

Hello #AfriTeam?
Any update as to why we are unable to access the Mweb Network, and why latency is all over the place?

We're not seeing anything general from our side. Mweb sites are responding well on my tests. Are you seeing general latency spikes to other local sites as well?

We can definitely investigate for you. Business accounts are not being shaped, we throttle Home Accounts, and then shape Premium accounts to manage demand, and this has been fine for a while now, so Business should be giving you an unshaped experience.

Pop me a PM and let's see if our team can see if your traffic is being managed the way it should :(

Latency for local sites is all over the place for me.

Shaping aside, sites shouldn't be taking ages to load or timing out, and streaming shouldn't be less than half the speed it usually is. Something's definitely wrong. At least in Cape Town.

Been having some issues at work (Cape Town) since the morning:

Any idea what is causing the issue ?

Eactly. This is what happens to my p2p every night between 7 and 10ish. CC is looking into my account but so far no permanent solution.
Google play store and international throughput also affected.
As stated last night - at 10pm on the dot my p2p and international throughput was back to normal with Google play store 5 minutes later.
My vox account and the free 1gb AH account works fine during this time.

EDIT: AfriMan - please can you check up on mine too? Pm inbound.

ok but for me its not finishing as it wont give the 8.8.8.8 results

my max download currently is 15kb/s on p2p and news so something is seriously wrong in cpt. all this on a business 10mb uncapped account.

even if i try downloading something directly through my browser, it times out with network error.. :(

Funny error this morning so far:

My ADSL Line is showing as up and connected and syncing at 9MB (Its a 10MB Line but 9MB is stable). However the internet itself is not connected at all. I tried the Telkom Guest account and it does not connect however my friends FNB Account connects which seems odd.

I have put my afrihost details back into the router and the ADSL Line comes up just fine but it is not authenticating on the Afrihost network. I have opened a support ticket but it just seems strange that the DSL would be up but the net refuses to connect.

Anyone else having a similar issue right now ? Is there an issue on the network somewhere in Johannesburg ?

Thanks

Our tests on Business in Cape Town seem to be perfect at the moment - testing normal streaming and also NNTP/P2P services seems fine.

We'll keep testing and talking to the network management team if we pick up anything strange :(

Looks very intermittent here. From our tests, latency should be perfect right now, though we are approaching one of the peak periods of the day. Can you please post a traceroute that I can look at? :(

If Critical Care are busy working with you, I don't want to throw a spanner in the works. If you'll add who you're chatting to there in the PM, I'll ask for an update for you :)

I had CC look into my account after 2 months nothing improved, so don't get your hopes up. I have been using more bandwidth lately, Windows 10 insider builds almost every second day, Steam sale, Evolve now free to play, large downloads, but p2p from 19.00 to 22:00 not too great.

We're testing on a Business 10Mbps account and all seems normal, so we'll have to look a little deeper into this for you.

Will reply on your PM.

As far as I understand, Critical Care went pretty deep into your account and if there was an issue we could isolate on our side, that would have been escalated for resolution. Happy to follow up what happened for you :(

It comes right for a few weeks then the s*** hits the fan again. Getting tired of it. But anyways...... will maar be patient again.
