Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

Funny error this morning so far:

My ADSL Line is showing as up and connected and syncing at 9MB (Its a 10MB Line but 9MB is stable). However the internet itself is not connected at all. I tried the Telkom Guest account and it does not connect however my friends FNB Account connects which seems odd.

I have put my afrihost details back into the router and the ADSL Line comes up just fine but it is not authenticating on the Afrihost network. I have opened a support ticket but it just seems strange that the DSL would be up but the net refuses to connect.

Anyone else having a similar issue right now ? Is there an issue on the network somewhere in Johannesburg ?

Thanks

That's pretty weird. I can't imagine why an FNB account can connect when Telkom won't. Is it a fibre line, or regular ADSL? I'm guessing ADSL.

Drop me a PM please so I can take a look from our side :(

If Critical Care are busy working with you, I don't want to throw a spanner in the works. If you'll add who you're chatting to there in the PM, I'll ask for an update for you :)
Just got an email from CC saying they are going to monitor my account over the next 24 hours to try figure out what is up. So holding thumbs.....

Sound like my issue, and its odd how no other isp that I have tested has the same issues at the same time my AH account has issue.
Even the 1gb AH account is fine during these times. As well as my backup vox account. So ya - iewers is daar n drol in die drink water.

As far as I understand, Critical Care went pretty deep into your account and if there was an issue we could isolate on our side, that would have been escalated for resolution. Happy to follow up what happened for you :(

You can follow up, but in the end I have the same issue, I was told my account was optimised, they found issues, the Telkom system governing speed was removed, never saw any improvement. My line runs well, but the 19:00-22.00 is an issue, and last night I had 4 windows 10 machines that needed updating, the updates from windows update were started at 19:00 and ended at 23:00, that's madness.

Our Cape Town branch is experiencing the same problems that you guys are talking about.

Our tests on Business in Cape Town seem to be perfect at the moment - testing normal streaming and also NNTP/P2P services seems fine.

We'll keep testing and talking to the network management team if we pick up anything strange :(

I'll setup a test bench quickly :)

Any tests you can post here?
Just ran a bunch of tests myself and don't see any issues from my end.

No, I'm in Joburg... and they are technologically illiterate. :p
All I can tell you is that they called me this morning saying the line was "extremely slow" even after rebooting their router several times.
They are the only ones running on that account. I don't know how else to remotely test it for them.
If I told them to do a Trace route they would think I was swearing at them.
They are in Maitland, Cape Town.
