Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

Wow, I've been stressing out for the last 4 hours trying to download a file via p2p. WTF!! Its now 11pm and p2p is still dead. There's no shaping applied (well according to the client zone) and everything looks 100% on their website, I come here and booommmm, I see issues of high demand from afriguy. Like wtf. Almost upgraded my account back to business. I've been on a business account since I joined Afrihost 3yrs ago and this is my first month on premium uncapped. Is anyone else still having issues with p2p?

ye been having issues the whole ****ing day!!! effing effing effing day@!!!@!#$@#$%^&$#$%^&%%$@#$^%#

lol sorry mate, seems to be improving, just went from 0.2kBs to abt 250kBs. Not constant though, its all over the place.

Ping to local servers ranging between 2000 and 25000 (not exaggerating). International servers are sitting at the usual 180-200 for Europe. This has been happening since the 10th. Download speed, browsing and P2P have all been fine. I'm in Durban, Web Africa account has under 20ms to local servers

Finally now im getting a decent speed.. been waiting since before 9am this morning!!! ffs this is not how people should do business!!!

So i get full speed from 11.30pm till approx 8am and i pay R997, wait what!! im paying R4.43 per hour for full speed internet!! (8.5x30 =225 and 997 divided by 225 =4.43) and the restof the month/ days im just connected but cant do a flipping thing and yes a damn 33.6 modem would be faster than the speeds i was getting today!!! I averaged about 200bytes/s today!! it took me 14 hours to download 400mb!! and in the past 8min ive downloaded 1.8gigs!!!

There should be a general rule if you cant give a decent service 24/7 then you shouldnt be allowed to offer or supply something, ok i get that sometimes there's down time but say what the effing thing is not 'oh we were busy on the mother effing network what bullcrap is that why were there upgrades done and what were they for if not to improve the service??>

What about the rest of the time, what was so special about today that now all of a sudden they couldnt handle stuff!?!?!

hopefully this is not a sign of how things will be from now onwards, if thats the case they should halve all of our rates and we can pay them how we feel like - something like 'oh it seems that i didnt have enough this month to pay you, I was too busy or whatever!

ok venting done, hopefuly no more issues or i'll be back again tomorrow to add more fuel to this fire!!

oh and I wanna ask, whats with the other network issues, i thought this specific forum thread (Thread: Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2) was about afrihost??

Yip, my P2P speed is back to normal now. Expecting it to go to sh*t tomorrow again. Hopefully Afrihost can figure out what's making it freeze (and general browsing to be broken) during daytime hours.

Our Premium Uncapped accounts are shaped products, and this does mean that your P2P and HTTP downloads could be shaped during periods of high demand.

That's definitely not right... Would you be able to post a traceroute to a local server? We definitely need to figure out what's going on to affect your latency to that degree.

Are you still having trouble accessing Mweb?

Magically came right this morning, although hop 2 which is always inconsistent.

I wish I could say the same. Had issues all afternoon and night until 10pm.
Also, the previous 2 nights as well.

I'll need to follow-up with our Critical Care Team, I was off sick yesterday so I'm not quite yet up to speed with what happened yesterday.

Yeah... Hop 2 looks bit off.

Are you seeing that sort of latency throughout the day?

lol.

Afripeople, can you guys replicate the bad latency to EU WoW servers? I never get below 250ms and it fluctuates been 250 and 400..when I switch to vox it drops back down to 170ms.

One of our links went down causing aggressive shaping on the network, business uncapped included.

Wait what? That's not allowed...
