Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

All I know is that Afrihost is playing with loosing customers again.

Also a customer having gone through the hell of Afrihost at its worst. Also remembering how we were promised they will give back to the loyal customers, going through the network pain, when the time is right. As a business customer I've not received a single cent in refund since the new network was rolled out. So all lies it seems.

Now we're here again. According to the reports "our" network is fine. It's upstream where the issue lies. Well then why is everything fine when you switch over to a Telkom account. No issues.

If you look at those results you'll spot the same hops being repeated with Telkom and Afrihost, but you'll notice that on an Afrihost account those same hops have high latency.

It would seem the links between Afrihost and Mweb are either congested or being throttled. But this will be denied. It is rather annoying when Afrihost deny any problems, but we are all clearly pointing it out to them.

I've given them a 12Mb spreadsheet with trace routes done every 15 minutes to various hosts. Enough evidence to show when and which hops are having latency.

"There" meaning the exchange?

I'm kinda flabbergasted that no-one from (telephone) support has contacted me as yet. I logged the latest incident around 22h38 on Monday. They had the full business day on Tuesday. Not hearing from them yet is poor form!

-snip

Exchange congestion is entirely out of our hands. We'll need to see a ping to bras.afrihost.com to see if the latency jumps up from there. I can definitely tell you that there's no where near the amount of latency on our network compared to the results you've posted here.

Please include a ping to bras.afrihost.com, the more pings the better. This will monitor your latency to your exchange.

Hi AfriGuy, what's the latest feedback from your support team? I'm still experiencing routing issues to M-Web's network on a daily basis.

It's sitting with our Senior Network guys, I should have some feedback by 5pm today.

Our Network team have various test scenarios setup for all IPC POPs and will monitor throughout the times where poor results are being reported.

Clientzone down?

I'm afraid so :(
Looks like we're seeing some connectivity issues at Gallo Manor. Our team are aware and working on a fix.

EDIT: I've had a notice added to our site.

Could somebody explain the limited twitch bandwidth?

40Mb line can't handle a 5Mb stream... Can watch the TI but I expected to be able to watch in source quality

There it goes... Routing to M-Web broken. Youtube videos not streaming due to adverts not being able to load... Very very frustrating.

Yip, same story. But at least general latency has improved. For how long who knows. Afrihost's network is like a lucky packet, you never know what you will get.

Back to struggling again
Cannot cownload from usenet or any other P2p

Struggling to connect to work VPN, and when connected takes up to a minute to do a screen update. Started again at 19:00 this evening. Taking bets it will work fine again after 22:00 like in the past.
Shaping again on Business???????????????
