Our Capped accounts are entirely unshaped, so there shouldn't be any reasons for your connection to be jerky. Which DNS Servers are you using at the moment? How are the speedtests looking at the moment?

As I said, it really does depend on what you are planning on using your connection for. It's close to impossible to have a single package that works for each type of situation.

If you ever have any questions about the specifics of a package, you are more than welcome to ask us for clarification here.
 
we always use google dns as we had too much trouble with the one from ah
this is a sporadic problem the one moment everything is fine and the next moment it slows down and becomes sluggish

Ah... That could explain the jerkiness. We've optimized the Afrihost DNS to use the best local CDN and caches for each region, using Google's DNS may not give the best possible experience as we have no control over which servers you are routed to.
 
Is Afrihost still not able to offer Static IP's on capped Fibre accounts. Axxess offers this. Just so much of a mission to cancel with afrihost and take up with Axxess. Will be so much more convenient if they offer it.
 
How long should it take to upgrade a 2mb line to 4mb? Order placed Sunday 7th (and taking into account the public holiday).
 
Hey AG, since we're all busy with wording issues and whatever else. I have one question. How long does it take to get a telkom ADSL line upgraded to 4mb? Sitting on almost 3 weeks with a request in for you guys to bumb the speed up and I'm still stuck on 2mb...

I could be wrong, but it usually takes up to 30 days for an upgrade to finalize. It all depends on if your exchange has ports available, or it could be that the techs at your local telkom office have to much work orders to complete, in other words they prioritize according to severity, thus delaying the process.

I heard they actually have a program that does this all for us. But some idiot there broke it. So everything has to be done manually again. Was hoping someone who had dealings with them actually knew what the hells going on.
 
At least the tracert is not dying tonight. But still, browsing any local content on M-Webs network this evening is a joke. Just look at this latency. Perfect until it hits Optinet's network.

But this is what baffles me the most. Dropping my pppoe connection, and reestablishing it, then running the same tracert to news24.com (Which seems to resolve to a different server this time). Everything now perfect. Could someone at Afrihost shed some light on why this is the case?

Not sure if anyone else has noticed anything odd, but around 20:30 every single night for the last 3 or 4 nights, on the dot, international latency becomes unplayable. I go from a 170/180 average on Diablo 3 to around 400/500, sometimes higher and it does not go away until like 11:00 or Midnight.

It only seems to be Diablo 3 though. Path of Exile is solid at 160, The Division is solid too. Very odd that its only 1 game ?
