What type of router are you running? I had the same issue when I was playing Dota as well. But everytime I had those lags I had this in my logs in my router.

I have a d-link router. Since then I changed my router password which alleviated the problem, although i am still getting the "intrusions" from unknown IP's. Afrihost said their fine... Although it does not sound fine to me having an INTRUSION from an unknown source (traced some of them to US and China, etc)

Maybe something on your network uploading? Try disable wifi.

That doesn't sound good. I have a Netgear, Will check the logs and see what is says.
Yes, the missus. She does facebook (farmville and some casino games). I always know when she loads a game though because the pings spikes, but not by that much usually.
Will give it a go and see. The missus might complain about not being able to Facetube.
Any news regarding the high ping at night for the last few days in Durban?
"What problems?" rinse and repeat![]()
Trying to download the Skype offline installer - http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full
Afrihost Business Uncapped 10mbps - 99KB/s
Mweb Premium Uncapped 10mbps - 1105KB/s
Both on the same line, same router and the same PC.
I honestly give up.![]()

To be fair they have accepted a problem does exist and have updated the website accordingly. Although i can understand the sentiment as Afrihost have developed a reputation for denying that problems do exist but i think they deserve some credit in this case. Perhaps a leopard can change its spots?
Edit: Although i now see they have updated the website, Afrihost are you guys aware that this high latency problem is mainly in the evening. Are you certain its been resolved?
They have acknowledged that there are issues with users in the KZN region. They are working to resolve it.
Okay im just catching up. Im in the Cape region and no issues. I noticed that KZN region was affected previously as wellWebsite says its been resolved.

Well this explains why twitch only works at low and medium.
Not sure where to start, I applied to be upgraded to VDSL and following this my problems started. First off Telkom was contacted and they fiddled and they let Afrihost know that the line is not upgrade-able.
Then I started experiencing problems with bandwidth, I could no longer view movies live from ShowMax and YouTube movies frame rate and just freeze. Following contacting Afrihost in regards this a Telkom tech came and inspected my line, he plugged his blue Telkom issue phone into my telephone jack and said the line is not to noisy and left.
Afrihost contacted me and confirmed Telkom inspected my line and all was in order. Following this my email accounts stopped linking to the Afrihost imap server and for two weeks with calls to and fro miraculously came right.
I take it that it must of been a miracle due Afrihost not acknowledging there was a problem. Since then my line has been reset, tweaked and router shut down for 10 minutes and restarted on numerous times.
I still can't watch any videos on ShowMax or Youtube, videos on Facebook start showing and then the dreaded buffer circle comes up. Who should I contact next obviously Afrihost don't believe I have a problem.
I have also tried moving my ADSL line back to Telkom with no success hoping that I can deal directly with Telkom to get my line sorted out.
This is just a standard ADSL 10MBS the speed test results stay the same prior and after the buffering started, maybe I am being shapped in some form or other
