More than a TB data. Are you trying to set a world record?

It's a pretty big family, with some heavy users. That said, usage is still above what I think it should be. I've actually just spent R4k on a Ubiquiti gateway to go with my Ubiquiti access points. They'll offer detailed historical usage data for all wired and wireless users. Delivery will take a while though - stock of some Ubiquiti products is useless in SA.

I'm not judging. :p
Very cool that Afrihost is giving away so much free data. Might even make uncapped accounts obsolete. :)

Out of interest sake, is wifi channels router or region specific? I see under my channels, i only go up until 9. But wifi analyzer tells me a better channel would be 11. :o

Channels differ slightly around the world, but not really to the layman. Not being able to access a channel above 9 is really bad - what router do you have?

I believe 3, 6 and 11 are the channels everyone should use as they don't overlap.

Is this 2.4GHz or 5GHz?

1, 6, 11...
1, 5, 9, 13 should also work, but talk with your neighbors.

Here is a TR via a test IP

Latency looks to come in quite early, do you see the same results when using an Afrihost account?

Ubnt FTW!!
Did you get the Security Gateway?

Im testing my buddies Dlink G225, and its nothing above 9 which is kind of strange. Its a 2.4Ghz adsl/vdsl router

Could just be signal interference somewhere, or the antenna on the router isn't outputting enough/ outputting too little for your coverage.

Will have a look tonight again. Ill plug in the Aztech router in as well, and see how many wifi channels does it show on there, but i know for a fact that i selected channel 11 previously on the Aztech. This is the last few days im helping my buddy and testing my line with his router, then its time he decides to take it back and replace with something else.

Btw whatever it means, but the Dlink has 2 x 5dBi antennas or something like that :)

That should be fine, but WiFi entirely depends on what your home setup looks like.
Try changing the output power, sometimes less performs betters.

Would it be causing issues, if we are 4 people connected, and everything else running directly from the router ie xbox, media player, pc, phones etc. Im assuming that the performance would drop, if there are so many connected at any given time? Yes/no?

Ja. And the UniFi Cloud Key to run the controller. Ordered - haven't received yet.

Awesome!! I'm sure you'll enjoy it, happy tinkering :)
I've been super stoked with my Ubiquiti gear, hasn't failed me once.

Does the Cloud Key just run a UniFi Controller instance?

Pretty much. Saves me having to set up a dedicated PC to do it 24/7, which the gateway requires to function properly. It also lets you access your UniFi controller from anywhere - hence the cloud part of the name.

It shouldn't, unless a device is saturating the WiFi links - in which case latency would worsen.

Nice :) It'll save on electricity too, which is always a plus!
Which reminds me, I probably need to upgrade my controller...

Check out the EdgeRouter series too, they're awesome :D

Nah then its not that, since the new router, latency has been around 8 or 9ms. Ill just check again, but so far its been stable and solid. Data buffet time has been really great, and it allows one to be less cautious and worry about running out of data with the kids around. Hope it continues into 2017, as its really good. :)

Save on pizzas as well ;) :D
