Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

Capped account. both google (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4) and auto dns.
Regularly happens after 6pm, starts getting more stable by 11. Some days it doesn't happen. Generally fridays are guaranteed stuff-ups. Other ISP accounts are fine, so thats what i've now resorted to doing. Afrihost by day, competitor between 6 and 12

:(

Thanks for the update. That's definitely not something we want our Clients to have to do.

Our home page uses Cloudfare, so it will route to anyone of a number of Cloudflare servers and CDNs, some of those are hosted in Mweb Data Centers.

So whats this then? This is what they told me on Facebook.

Afrihost: We use a range of upstream providers on our DSL network.

Guys ever since you had the hosting issues recently... everyone i know that has a fixed ip address is struggling with slow internet access.

Capped is fine, normal business without fixed ip address is also fine.

Whats happening with #XVM-500-29330 ?

but that is not how things should be. If you asking me to do specific tests just to see that there is a problem on something i dont use, then i dont see the point. I only use things for streaming and browsing, and the odd torrents now and then. Hence my earlier comment, about people not complaining, because the things that they use it for is working well.

Edit: Unless everybody on the Afrihost network tests the same thing, Afrihost would never really see it as an issue from a business point of view, but would have to individually test with those affected. If the entire network went down, and the entire Afrihost data base goes down, then its a problem they can address.

This is where you're wrong. It should be that everything just works, for everything and everyone for when they day comes when you change your habits, you shouldn't have to find out then that something is performing sub-optimal. Other ISP's don't seem to have a problem doing this.

So, I ask again in the interest of truly trying to help Afrihost get to the bottom once and for all that we all test the same test to show them its not just an isolated per user thing but a network wide thing (Cape Region for now) and get this ball rolling in fixing it.

So, tonight around 7pm if people are complaining again like last night, then the people (Cape Region) that are happy with their performance please do the following tests in the interests of HELPING Afrihost:

Test 1:
ping -n 10 bras.afrihost.com

Test 2:
tracert afrihost.com

Test 3:
Local speedtest (share result image)

Test 4:
London Speedtest (share result image)

Test 5:
New York speedtest (share result image)

Should take less 5 mins to do this.

Use it, don't use it.

I'm in Durban, so am not fazed either way.

This cannot be correct. While your main website is behind Cloudflare (Afrihost.com) your secondary domain (Afrihost.co.za) is NOT behind Cloudflare and indeed routes to MWeb Business (IS) servers directly. I've also seen some of your hosting environment infrastructure being moved to [redacted] from the Gallo Manor MTN DC. This started happening soon after Afrihost bought itself back from MTN. A great move in my opinion!

Northern region performance has been great. My home 4Mbs line cleared by queue for the first time in a few weeks!

That answer isn't correct. :) Since Cloudflare is one of our providers.

I wasn't aware that there were any issues with our Static IPs, I'll follow-up on this ASAP.

The routing my differ a bit, but both Afrihost.com and Afrihost.co.za should resolve to the same server in the end.

We continuously move resources between data centers, as space opens up and prices change etc. :)

I'd like to call attention to this: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...twork-Feedback-Part-2?p=18464558#post18464558
I have no clue what you guys did but it's working perfectly at the moment. Touch nothing :D

I'm in Durban so East IPC, could the massive packet loss and ping in Armoured Warfare over the weekend have been caused by what's been happening with the South IPC?

It looks like most of the complaints were coming from the South over the weekend.

Are you on an Uncapped account at the moment?

Morning Guys!

I'll be going through the thread, post by post, but I can already see that it doesn't look like things were great in the South over the week. Our Team is going through the results that have been posted here, but for now it would really help us a lot if you guys can indicate which type of ADSL account you are on, and the DNS Servers that you are using at the moment.

Capped account, auto DNS.
Please see comment #6468

Is anyone here on the Clareinch exchange and having seriously slow throughput?

I'm not seeing any reported issues on that Exchange, but I know it's been problematic in the past. What is your throughput and latency looking like?

It's very up and down for me at the moment, also on business uncapped.
