I'm moving soon so hopefully the new exchange isn't going to be problematic. Is there any way to check if an exchange is problematic?

What type of account do you have? What is your DSL line speed? And what sort of speeds are you getting?

Routed internationally?? That is what is strange here. Why not local for IGN?

I'm moving soon so hopefully the new exchange isn't going to be problematic. Is there any way to check if an exchange is problematic?

I use the SAIX Noticeboard, the direct is link HERE.

There aren't any issues reported at the moment, but over the past few months there have been a lot of reported issues on Clareinch.

I am. Premium uncapped. Why?

Ah, I was just curious, I actually was just wondering - and I'm hoping this won't even be necessary - if you experience problems with the game again, could you switch to an Afrihost Capped account?

If I do a trace route to www,ign.com,

I end up on IP 105.227.1.232, which is "a1005.g.akamai.net" ?

(maximum 34 ms)

Not sure why it's routing internationally for you. I'm based in the north and a trace to www.ign.com stays local for me. Mind posting another trace just to www.ign.com and not the address mentioned by you above?

Uh, you mean like the free 1GB? Sure, I'll give it a try. I assume you think it's getting caught up in the shaper? I'm currently shaped for P2P and my game is running fine. I'll try again tonight when the shaping lifts around 11PM and see if anything changes.

A lot of those issues reported are probably from me :D but yeah, any idea what the edgemead exchange is like? I have no idea what exchange that suburb falls under, I need better Internet, I'm hoping it will be better there.

Although we try to prioritize gaming traffic, certain games might use the same protocols that could fall under the "blanket" of shaping, but our Network Team are always proactive with regards to managing this. Let us know how your game performs using a Capped account. :)

No, I am coming out a local address, but the original OP complaint about this was being routed internationally ... That is why I was raising the matter ---- why do some on AH end up local and others end up on international?

Problem is that I hope it's not getting caught. I spent hours with your techs a few months ago trying to set up a profile while you guys were waiting for a profile from some Canadian company. But testing I shall do :)

Best bet for checking is grab yourself a free account from another ISP. When you start seeing this behavior run that tracert on both accounts and check if its isolated to one or the other. Like I did here:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ack-Part-2?p=18467596&viewfull=1#post18467596

It should help eliminate the ISP and/or isolate the hardware.

Ironically I connect to clareinch too.

Your testing has definitely not gone to waste. :) Let me know how it runs tonight.

So judging by these results the content was not originally cached on our network, thus routing overseas. Seems to be cached now. :)
