My modem got taken out by lightning last night, I'm now trying to get up and running with a spare modem I had lying around, but for some reason I can't get connected. AfriPeople, could you perhaps check if you are seeing any connection attempts on your side?
I'm trying with a MWeb FON router which I baught from them back in the day.

Never mind, got it working now.

Yaay, line has dropped sync, reported to AH via support ticket, get the send around notes...
I know my equipment and everything is working this end, (I own equipment to check these things) but when I tell the support this I get this long ass send around. Just report the damn problem to Telkom so they can either switch me to another port or get a techie out here and see what's going so wrong that the line decreased it sync rate.

Thank you for the email :-).

Please note that server congestion can also cause your connection speed to drop as well as
the router degrading, Hence we have refreshed all ports on your line and it is recommended
that you restart your router for settings to take place.

If the problem persists please provide us with the following:

Complete the following tests and return the results so that we can better trouble shoot the
problem with the trace route being the most important test:

Please note that it is very important to ensure that your phone line extensions all have micro filters installed.
Please kindly swap the filters and test the speed. Please connect directly to the phone socket without the filters
and test. If this does not improve, please provide us with speedtest screenshots from www.saix.net

Afrihost - Please update with results from speed test done with Afrihost account.

Username: Afrihost user name

Password: Afrihost password

on www.saix.net

Could you kindly provide us with screen shots from your tests; so we can better troubleshoot this problem:

1: we need a line speed test; this can be accessed through http://www.saix.net/

2: we need a download speed test; [if you use another ISP too; you may send us both results]
This can be tested through http://www.saix.net/
[If you test another ISP as well; kindly ensure that you test both ISP's to the same location}

3: A 30 second ping test to the address that you are experiencing slow speeds:
from a command line; run the following command:
ping -t www.address.co.za
{change www.address.co.za to the address where you are getting slow speeds}

***This can also be achieved through http://www.pingtest.net/

4: A trace route test to the latter:
from a command line; run the following command:
tracert www.address.co.za
{change www.address.co.za to the address where you are getting slow speeds}

How to access command line:
On a PC
-------->

- Click on Start > go to run [in Windows XP]
- or for Windows Vista & Windows7:
- Start > start search
- type: cmd
*a command prompt window will open [black/white window]

On a MAC
-------->

- Open Terminal {a quick way is to type it on the Spotlight search}

If you could kindly send us these results; as well as advise what service / protocol you use for your downloads.

Please can you take a screen shots of all the speed test results (six in total) and send it through to us.

Apologies for the delay and inconvenience caused.

Thanks in advance; we thrive to improve our ADSL service & speeds.

Warm regards.

Have a great day and please let me know if I can help with anything else!

Warm regards

How the hell does server congestion drop line sync? The first I ever heard of this and I'm sure if this were the case everyone in the area including my next door neighbor with his 4mb line would have a issue. But alas he doesn't he syncs at 4mb, Same pole same connection same exchange maybe different DSLAM but all is working.

Untitled.jpg

Let's be reasonable, when the router squawks this then its something Telkom's side, not here, not traffic route.
Ticket: PHC-284-46709

Still having an issue accessing MEGA and Mediafire. Told you guys here and I started a ticket last week. It's been 3 days since I got a response. For some reason I now have 2 tickets.

Original: #UAV-106-26730
New Ticket from 3 days ago: #GXQ-263-94764

So what's happening?

The GXQ ticket had this: "I have escalated your query to our development team and will revert to you once I get feedback."

Is it normal to go 3 days without a response?

:(

I'm afraid that we need to go through those tests, Telkom has list of information that they need before the fault can be logged.

Definitely not! I'm going to follow-up on this tickets and see what's going on.

Had a slooooooow connection ..... logged a support ticket.
Dealt with Chesney and Justin, did all the tests and checks that we love to hate.

24 hours later, problem diagnosed, fixed and all is well.

Just registering my satisfaction with the service received, and giving credit where its due.

Thank You
