Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

No, we really do need to start getting specific. We need to lay the blame at the right door, so that when people Google "Openserve" they see all the relevant messages.

The only time we should see "Telkom" in this thread if it is in reference to Telkom Internet and why folks are so much happier using Afrihost instead of them.

Yeah, but that's not going to happen until Telkom finally re-brand their vehicles, get their techs to wear Openserve branded stuff, etc. and most people will still call them Telkom.

Most of the vehicles I see in the PE area have Openserve branding.

PS. and we, members of MyBB, should drive this criticism of Openserve... seeing that we should know better.

Same nut different rapper, Openserve Telkom, same s*** they pull. Nothing changes, Dealing with Afrihost on a ISP level is ok but dealing with Telkom (Openserve) is 100% piles creating problem. If you have infrastructure (I.E. ADSL line) that isn't related to the Telkom (Openserve) network then you'll never deal with them, but if you do own infrastructure that deals with them then you're stuck with them.

So using Afrihost to deal with Telkom's crap doesn't make it any easier, cause you're dealing with the same nut at the end of the day.

Really? Walking around town I can honestly say I've only seen one vehicle with Openserve branding, the rest all still had Telkom.

And regarding your P.S. I do try to say Openserve when I have line issues. :p

Game is Path of Exile, server is lon.login.pathofexile.com.

I suspect it might be an issue on my exchange, rather than an Afrihost issue. Just wanted to start troubleshooting somewhere.

Definitely something weird going on:

Saw one yesterday in Linton Grange trying to make a U-turn in the intersection between Spar & P'n'P - not the best advert for the company.

Is it just me or are Nvidia driver downloads slow as hell?

30KB/s on a single threaded download, but P2P is running full speed.

You guys might want to get your web dev team to have a look at your clientzone, you may have a bug. When you test your line, the value's are in the incorrect order.
The line attenuation and SNR for downstream/upstream are reversed. It shows downstream SNR and attenuation values for downstream in the upstream section and vice-versa.

I noticed this since downstream attenuation is always supposed to be higher than upstream attenuation. Your clientzone is showing the opposite. My router also shows the opposite of clientzone.

You may also want to check whether those are really SNR values and not SNR Margin values. There's a difference. My router shows the same values but as SNR margin.

Anyone else having issues? PE or Southern Region.

IOS apps can't connect i.e. Hay Day, Clash Royale. EA games not connecting to servers i.e. Star Wars Battlefront. Throughput seems right down as well.

Using Google DNS

Its always best to use a local or your ISP's DNS, try auto.

My internet has also been ridiculously slow today in PE.. 4Mbps line and YouTube constantly buffering while only using 30kbps? I have made at least 5 port reset requests and for about 5min after they are done, the internet is perfectly fine and then boom.. lag and slow internet
