I changed my packaged just now, will it take effect on 1 feb. I saw 23rd is the last day to do it,can you confirm?

Well, if it is expensive for AH to get additional capacity, and AH obviously trying to save money for itself, why dont AH gives us some serious discount for January or February, as in FACT we are paying for aggressively shaped internet with unreliable latency as a cherry on top?

I'm hoping you'll see the improvement before then. We honestly do appreciate the feedback that you guys provide us with, and it does factor heavily into our decision making process. So if you guys notice anything strange or have a less than ideal experience, let us know here.

Maybe just putting it out there. A question and a statement.
With FreeTime falling away (as it was) and your shaping on Capped accounts, Afrihost is not good value for $ anymore. Some of us that cannot stand shaping obviously selected the Unshaped option, halving our data, but FreeTime made it worth it.
Now though compared to other ISP that supposedly offer unshaped capped accounts I'm getting less for more. Do you guys know if there is more in the pipeline to solve this?
My Math
Afrihost: R452 (VDSL) + R300 (400GB / 2 = 200GB)
Other ISPs: R299 (300GB)
So I can keep my line with Afrihost for R425, select 20GB for -R14, giving me 10GB unshaped bundle for R411.
Then take other ISP account and pay in total R710 for 100GB more data.

You guys realize the exodus is coming

If you requested the package change today, and it is a downgrade, it will be effective from the 1st of February.

You've got to take the best deal possible. With that I can't really argue. You do just need to bear in the mind that quite a few ISPs do also reserve the right to shape their basic Capped accounts even if it isn't obvious.

Ideally we want to be at the point where our Shaped Capped accounts offer the best possible value and experience possible, where you don't have to worry about the shaping.

Is free time between 12AM-6PM falling away permanently? ie the people that have R299 accounts won't have it anymore either?

Good luck with that.

2 chances......

Free-Time will fall away completely on the 1st of February. Capped accounts will still receive the 00h00 to 08h00 to After-Hours data however.

Wth! I literally changed to a R299 capped account yesterday, because I wanted free time then. Guess I'll change back to 200+200GB account..

Can I still change back today?

You will still be able to downgrade, yes. If you downgrade today the change will take affect from the 1st of February. You will continue to receive the Free-Time until the 1st of February.

I have a 20mbps line and I just made this exact change the moment I got the email saying free time was dropping off. Now it's just a matter of finding a new ISP for Feb.

Seriously though my biggest gripe isn't with them dropping the free time. Its EVERYTHING combined, the constant back and forth, constant changing of data packages and promotions for the past few months. They changed the free time rules 3 times in the past 3 months and then cancelled it. It gives the impression they just don't know what they're doing.

I don't want ever evolving promotions from my ISP, I don't want to have to make adjustments on a monthly basis, I want to have it, it must work and I must just forget about it.

The promotion farce coupled with the constant ping issues to European game servers has just put me off.

The Free-Time promotion was going to end in November and we managed to extend it until the end of January, I don't really understand how that equates to us not knowing what we're doing...

I sent a PM to AfriGenie, but have not received a reply. Just want to find out before the end of the day, so I can make my decision.

I'm currently on a VDSL 20Mbps + 200GB Unshaped bundle. Over the last month or so I've built up some unused data. If I now decide to downgrade to VDSL 20Mbps + 20GB bundle, what happens to my built up data? Does it stay as it was?

My plan is to downgrade to something like a 20GB account and use my data built over the last two months. This gives me a chance to decide on ISP and see if Afrihost introduces more changes when the exodus occurs :o

Now let's just hope the built up data stays.
