Thanks AfriGuy. Any way I can push myself back to a "normal" profile? It's not gaming friendly :(

I've seen Telkom do this, however I don't think it's a permanent fix.
The small increase of latency really shouldn't affect your overall experience though.

:( but there's quite a difference from 15-20ms pings in gaming to sub 50ms pings. They just go and kill us gamers like that! :(

Man...fiber can't come quick enough!

Thanks though.

I got tired of asking Charl to change me back to fast path every other day. I wish you could disable interleaved on your router to force fast path. Anyone know if this is possible?

It's a value dictated by the DSLAM itself I'm afraid.
While changing it back may/ can work for now - I'm pretty sure it'll be rolled out as a standard pretty soon.

Had a look at my routers, tried 3 different ones on the same line and I get this.

Edimax AR-7211A
Latency: Interleaved
ADSL Mode: G992.5 ADSL2+
Down Sync: 22184kbps
Up Sync: 1022kbps
Attenuation Downstream: 4
Attenuation Upstream: 4
SNR Margin Downstream: 9.9
SNR Margin Upstream: 6.8
Test ping 32ms to afrihost.com

Zyxel VMG1312-B10A
Latency: Interleaved
Mode: ADSL2+
Attenuation Downstream: 1
Attenuation Upstream: 1
SNR Margin Downstream: 10.4
SNR Margin Upstream: 11.7
Down Sync: 24001kbps
Up Sync: 1023kbps
Test ping 31ms to afrihost.com

Billion 7402x
Latency: Fast Path
Mode: G.Dmt.BisPlus (ADSL2+)
SNR Margin(Upstream) 14.5 dB
SNR Margin(Downstream) 7.65 dB
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 0.5 dB
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 9.0 dB
Down Sync 20480kbps
Up Sync 1024kbps
Test ping 16ms to afrihost.com

It would seem for some reason the Billion routers don't sync using interleaved?

If that is the case changing all my routers to Billion, going to test this on more lines.

Anyone else on interleaved at the moment, who has an older Billion router lying around they can test with?

Interesting Hummercellc. Wish I could see what mode it syncs on a netgear dgn2200. Pretty sure it's interleaved though judging by my pings..

What speed do you pay for and what is your line currently syncing at?

you can Telnet into your router and use this command: adslctl info --stats

Look for Channel: INTR or FAST

Then you are on interleaved, you can only sync past your paid for speed on interleaved not on fastpath

:( yeah happened about early December when Telkom started "tweaking" everyone's lines.

But I doubt that means that if I tell them to put it back to 10mb then I'll stay off of interleaved...?

Can you, as a major ISP, tell them not to do it?

Haven't connected to my capped account this month at all, yet 2% of my cap was used. Keenan M said this was an error and that this would be corrected, nothing has been done yet. Do I wait or call back? (initial contact was made on Monday.)

Hey MikeKee! That sounds super weird... Happy to look at your account and usage, and sort you out! Just drop me a PM with your deets. :)

Unfortunately we are all at the mercy of Telkom regarding infrastructure decisions. :(

Yes, but can't you go and ask them? I am sure DJ/CrystalWeb would support you, interleave is not very good for anyone who does gaming. Are they trying to make copper looking even worse to get more people to move to fiber?

Slow for me tonight. 1.42mbps on my 8mbps line. Latency is at 44ms
