Yes, but can't you go and ask them? I am sure DJ/CrystalWeb would support you, interleave is not very good for anyone who does gaming. Are they trying to make copper looking even worse to get more people to move to fiber?

Interleaving should actually be making your connection better for gaming, you'll see a bit of extra latency, but the packet loss on your connection will be close to zero.

If your experience doesn't line up in your real-world gaming, then we definitely need to look into this.

Slow for me tonight. 1.42mbps on my 8mbps line. Latency is at 44ms

ok grant it im on wifi at the moment, but that doesnt look good :(

That doesn't look good at all! The latency on your first hop should never be above 5ms though...

How many devices are you running off of your WiFi at the moment?

Ah! That does look a bit better. The third hop is timing out because a lot of Exchanges don't reply to ICMP requests anymore, that isn't something to be too concerned about. :)

Are you consistently getting those speeds?

not really re speeds.. normally on my 8mbps line im in and around 6.5mbps which i think is where the 8mbps maxes out.. i normally have about 3 devices connected to wifi, but when i did that test, only one was connected to wifi.

Browsing also slow as fck tonight for me though streaming seems to be managing just fine.

Pings also seem just fine.

Just http/s traffic thats really sluggish.

There weren't any network wide issues last night that I could see. Your browsing definitely should not have been problematic, can you check which DNS servers your modem is using at the moment?

I'm using an unblocker service with a DNS node in jhb. Traceroute to mail.google.com routes locally with around 60ms pings. Swapping to web Africa works just fine. Around 11/12 pm/am it comes right again.

Why would DNS settings change this?

I disagree as I have little/near no packet loss on my line while gaming (currently on fast path). If they swap to interleave I will just have more latency, there would be no gain for me. All my servers in Europe I am 10-15ms below 200ms which is the tipping point, if I go above that due to interleave it would be quite noticeable.

Hmmm, that may have impacted your performance a bit, we have CDNs and caches that are setup in each region, so if you are in the Cape and your DNS is routing through to Jo'burg things may have felt a bit more sluggish as 40ms to 60ms were being added.

Have you noticed this happening before?

The difference between browsing a website in JHB vs. CPT is not something that I'm worried about. I wouldn't even be worried if I was served the US mirror of Gmail.

This is literally timing out; I can only barely load Gmail on it's "low bandwidth" option. Google searches time out, MyBB is slow but manageable. It's for the past 2 nights only and between 8PM and 11PM that I've noticed it. I am not at home during the day but my wife has been for the past few days and she has no issues during the day.

PS: I watch my Mikrotik the entire time and there is nothing else using bandwidth - the line activity is low - a few hundred kbps.

As I said before, swapping to Web Africa works perfectly.

I'm wondering if something strange isn't with the Unblocker and our DNS servers. If it happens again tonight would you mind switching to our standard DNS and seeing if there is any change.

Does AH have it's own DNS servers? What are they?

Yup!

Each region has its own DNS servers, you can either set your DNS to Automatic on your modem which will assign you two DNS servers from the pool of available servers in your region, alternatively you can set your DNS to 169.1.2.1 and 169.1.2.2.

Hi I'm on an 8Mbps line getting 5Mbps at most.
My sync speed is set to 6Mbps:
https://gyazo.com/004d24265119d209f4f9ecf3cb888862

Speed tests look great:
CPT
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5057134583

JHB
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5057102273

Is there anyway we could get it closer to 8Mbps.
I'm now unable to stream at my desired quality on Twitch and other platforms,
starting to feel like I'm not getting what I'm paying for.

Telkom has stepped up the game when it comes to ASSIA. ASSIA will stabilize your DSL line to ensure the best possible experience on your DSL line.

If the line is stable on the 6Mbps profile, ASSIA will automatically push up the sync to a higher profile.

Ok it's happening again.. changed my DNS servers to the AH ones - traceroute directed my to the jnb google node - as far as browsing goes, timing out and slow as fck - again.

Web africa working fine - again.

I somehow get the feeling that you want to rephrase that. Currently you are saying that it will always push to be unstable due to it increasing the line sync if it's stable.
