Once again around 10pm or 11pm Twitch will just die.
After it working perfectly for hours it just dies, as seen in this screen shot > Link

Tried restarting my router and that made no difference.
WinMTR to twitch shows no issues either.

As I said this has happened in the past a few times and each time afrihost seem to have no clue why.

It takes usually about an hour before it works again.

And yes it's an AH issue.
Other ISPs are fine.

Only twitch, no other traffic?

Ok it's happening again.. changed my DNS servers to the AH ones - traceroute directed my to the jnb google node - as far as browsing goes, timing out and slow as fck - again.

Web africa working fine - again.

Very odd.
Not seeing any general issues here though. Are you auto-assigning DNS? Where abouts are you based?

Very strange. Definitely shouldn't be something from our end that's doing this.
What DNS servers are you using?

Also, would you mind pasting that MTR so I can take a look?

My fibre is up and running. Nice to see that Afrihost accounts run fast! :D

(It gets 97Mbps on a PC wired to the main router - my PC is wired to a secondary wired up router)

Why is the upload so low?

Why is the upload so low?

The Telkom technicians said 10-15Mbps upload was normal. Might differ per region, dunno. I was expecting 25Mbps based on previous speed tests posted on MyBB, but it's still good.

Did you get your fibre from Afrihost (I see its Telkom FTTH)? Or through some other source, and using Afrihost as your ISP?

Afrihost doesn't offer fibre lines. It's just my data account. The line is from ISPAfrika, although Web Africa, Vox, Telkom etc. obviously also offer the lines.

Correct. :)

Unofficially, our Capped accounts work on fiber. We're just not marketing it as a product at this time.

Hi I'm on an 8Mbps line getting 5Mbps at most.
My sync speed is set to 6Mbps:

Speed tests look great:

JHB

Is there anyway we could get it closer to 8Mbps.
I'm now unable to stream at my desired quality on Twitch and other platforms,
starting to feel like I'm not getting what I'm paying for.

Hey, i had the same issue with my 20mbps line being set incorrectly. Sadly Afrihost cannot help however i can almost promise you (according to your stats) that either the Twitter Telkom team or TelkomZA on this forum will be able to set you to the full 8mbps that you pay for. Simply tell them (I suggest Twitter Telkom team now as they respond quickly) that "I need a port reset on the port "##########" at 8192kbps on ADSL2+ Modulation" I can almost guarantee that they will set you correctly. They incorrectly set it sometimes and this needs to be set again. If you say it just like that you should be sorted within an hour.

Apply for fibre and be a happy panda!

How does your property fare across the various coverage maps?
Pretty bad. Most I can do is 20mbps. I'm not in the greatest of areas, so fibre won't be here for quite some time to be honest. I might look at upgrading to a 20mbps line, as I only stream in Any case. At the moment for my needs, 8mbps is okay for HD streaming via Netflix. So for now I'll be patient. :) but happy for you Pal, you have been hanging in there for a while

20Mbps is still pretty great. I think the latency improvement has made more of a difference to my connection than the speed increase.

Yeh, but like I said in my household of 4, well my 1 year old daughter doesn't count we only stream. No torrent downloads and gaming, so I'm okay on an 8mbps line. Most of my downloads are apps, and then email. So I'm not too fussed about fibre right now. My latency has dramatically improved, from over 300ms to around 18ms. That as Afriguy and the reps can tell you, was my biggest headache before.

This is how my account performs on a PC connected directly to the fibre router:

Tests done after one another. The upload speed and latency fluctuate in speed tests. Not sure why.
