It is an MSDN download - so no link to that sorry.

But like I said, it seems to be improving now. With only the MS download now running (in chrome)- it is bouncing between 60kb/s and 120kb/s (with the occasionally peak in the 200s).

I just fired up a download manager instead and getting a nice 570 kb/sec - so I'll chalk this one up to Chrome :o

Sorry for the false alarm.

Ah OK, no worries.
I've also seem some weirdness with Chrome sometimes - I see there are improvements on the way though :) Multi-threaded downloads FTW!

Tough to nail down an issue from there :(
Is there a traceroute you can post?

I tried pinging again. There is no issue now. Getting 187ms.

I had the same issue yesterday and earlier this morning. Massive ping and around 40% packet loss in game. It's very on and off.

That's pretty odd, international upstream looks good from what I can see.
Definitely worth a traceroute/ MTR to see where the issues are coming in.

AfriGuy, previously you told me if I want to pause my capped account for April I must do it before the 25th of this month. What do I enter in to the start date field, do I enter 25 March or do I enter 1 April?

#AfriTeam seeing as us Business Uncapped users never see any benefits thrown our way, could Afrihost not remove speed restrictions between 11:30pm and 7:30am? I have 20mbps lines with 10mbps Business Uncapped Accounts to overcome the overhead on DSL. Just a thought.

Our billing run seems to have been updated to a little earlier, although cancellations should still run this month if you've submitted one.
If you need your account paused from April, then you can enter 1 April, or the earliest date available.

There aren't any restrictions in place during this times, or any though.
Are you having throughput issues?

Hi all

Saw a thread pop up which seems to be gaining a bit of traction - just a heads up to try and keep all comms within this thread, it's monitoring closely, so we always reply pretty quickly.
It's also a one stop shop for feedback and testing :)

Anyone having issues with their torrents not working?

it just says connecting to peers and just stays there?

Just ran a test with a torrent now and saw 1.1MB/s on my test results.
We'll need to nail down how and why you and others seem to be having troubles here. Please confirm the following info and grab some test results :)

  • Account type & speed
  • What torrent app you're using

Thanks guys :)

I know off topic, was clearing and came across this. What is this for? Is this to add additional ethernet cables to multiple devices? I think its pretty old, but just want to know if its any use or should i just throw it away :)

Depending on the number of ports the switch have you can easily establish or expand your local area network with it. It isn't the fastest but it is good enough for home use. :)

It's a switch, so you can run a cable from your router in your lounge (as an example) to your man cave, where it can split out to power your multiple server and data centre grade storage :p Wiki probably has a better explanation though https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_switch

Don't chuck it though.

Having massive issues in Johannesburg this morning. Support seems a bit... unenthusiastic.

Sorry about that.
Is it just YouTube that's affected? Looks like your traceroutes run to other destinations?

Morning guys

Having some issues in the North this morning, seeing low throughput and increased latency :(
Our network team are aware and working on the issue.

Thanks :) will try and figure it out. Would i say be able to run from router to media player, then another ethernet in the switch and then into a pc? Or would router go into switch, and then ethernet from switch into media player? :D im sure Johnatan will explain in detail also later, so no need for Wiki ;)

This landed on the bottom of the last page, just a bump :)
Network notice will be posted on our site shortly.

I had unstable throughputs last night, as i noticed my router kept losing its connection, then stabilising again. Was like that for around 10 mins. Not sure what that was about

Doubt it's related, this outage is specific to now and the North.

Yeh possibly, was minor issue last night though. Netflix started up, then said i lost connection. This morning it was fine, as i could stream girls in skimpy outfits doing exercises :D :p
