Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

I've downloaded PingPlotter and tested the same IP.
It showed the Jitter on hop 3 and 9 is very high.
There is also packet loss on hops 16 and 17.

And if u try the same IP with a different ISP?

Why is only Afrihost showing high ping on this site and in my example not WebAfrica?

The test was done with AfriGreen and it compares with very well to the test you've done with your WebAfrica account. I'm sure my Telkom account will give the same figures.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 3317 kbps (414.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 420 kbps (52.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 37 ms

Google play store updates reach 1 mbps if I am lucky.
YT steaming nicely at 3.1 mbps.
Torrents even reaching 300+ KB/s.
VPN is still a no go though.
Windows updates were running really slowly (<1 mbps) at around 4pm.
Browsing is random - some websites load decently whole others take ages.
9gag android app loads images and gifs really slowly (300 kbps).

Sorry but no - it doesn't look similar to his test on WA.
There was no packet loss on his WA test for one plus most readings on the WA were sub 200 ms.

You should get much better ping on WebAfrica. My telkom account is about 50ms better. But that makes sense as Afrigreen as no IPC in the south yet, AFAIK.

Oops sorry, I am somehow not sure what you are saying.

Are you saying that similar to my afrigreen ping plotter account there is abnormal high latency when testing on IP 95.172.91.23 on your end as well (i.e. a latency issue on the afrigreen network)?

I am only showing test results to the FW EU server address to illustrate the problem I am having (this site shows it the best - ie highest latency). I can do a similar test to the EU Battlenet server whereby a test on WA account has much less latency than the Afihost/Afrigreen network.

PS: As noted in my previous posts, it does not matter if I use @afrigreen or @ afrihost - the high latency problem I am having is on both these networks.

Subtract 30ms from my time for routing via Johannesburg and they are. The packet loss is problematic and I did highlight it.

I saying that my AfriGreen account performs almost the same as your WebAfrica account.

Somehow ...... I do not agree with the feed back from the Afrihost network team and after reviewing the ping plotter tests I made a few minutes ago (one on the afrigreen network and the other on the WebAfrica network), I am sure that even you will agree that the performance I get on the Afrihost network is appalling.

Question: As I have been having this issue for the past two weeks, is Afrihost looking into fixing it?

Very interesting results here.
Not seeing this on my tests or overall monitoring for Afrigreen - what's the experience like on your regular account or a backup ISP?

Either way we need compensation. You cannot charge a customer for dysfunctional services or products.

I can't pass compensation, we've always given back to our clients wherever possible.
If you'd like to open a dispute around billing you'll need to chat to our Accounts team directly.

Evening all

Just a reminder, we're moving over to a production based Afrigreen account within the month. Further comms will be sent out within the week surrounding the switch over and further migration details.

Hello, can't wait to see what difference the new network will make. :)

?

Hang on, I think we have maybe cross wires here .......... I have been kinda answering the same questions a few times these last two days :)

So let me try and word it differently, or just maybe summarize my problem.

For approximately the past two weeks I have experienced sever lag spikes during peak times. This phenomenon appears on both my Afrihost accounts (I currently have a capped account with Afrihost on a 2MB Telkom ADSL line).

This implies that if I set my router to use the [email protected] account or the xxxx@afrigreen account, the result is similar - severe latency to the extent that online gaming is pure internet hell.

This problem applies to all the gaming servers I try to connect to - Forsaken World, Guild Wars 2 and Diablo III.

When I use my 1GB free WebAfrica account and connect to the abovementioned gaming sites (i.e. - Forsaken World, Guild Wars 2 and Diablo III), I find the ping rate to be "normal" for a PC situated in South Africa and connecting to a EU gaming server.

When performing trace tests via Ping Plotter, the results reflect what I experience ......... high latency on anyone of the Afrihost networks and "normal" latency on the WebAfrica network.

In my limited knowledge of how these things work, I believe the problem is with Afrihost and hence my question: Is Afrihost going to do something about it?

Do you consider giving clients additional bandwidth which they cannot use due to a broken network giving back?

Yeah - promises of a brilliant new network. Sick of all the promises.

P2P is ****ed on both networks this evening, I'm on a capped account. WebAfrica running at full speed.
The worst decision I ever made was handing my line over to AH to manage. The production based AfriGreen is going to suck just as bad, I guarantee it.

Yeah - promises of a shiny new network. Sick of all the promises.

I kinda feel the same way, as logging my issue with ClientZone ended in the claim that the fault is with my Telkom line, Modem, PC, blablabla - where it clearly is not the case as I dont have the issue with the same equipment on a different ISP network.

The major dilemma here is - which ISP do one go to if you decide to jump this ship?
