Seriousl, what is happening at Afrihost? I was dealing with Afrigenie, who refuse to reply to my message - after he asked me to pm him. I lodged a complain with Afrihost yesterday about the bad speeds of the Green line - and true as FCK they tell me I must now use the OLD username and Password. The VERY same account that gave me troubles and that was so slow that I could not even open Facebook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT IS GOING ON????????????? WHO IS GOING TO FIX MY INTERNET SPEED SO THAT I CAN DOWNLOAD AND WATCH MY YOUTUBE?????

SEE THE BELOW EMAIL. HOW IS THIS FIXING ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST ****ING PUTTING ME BACK ON MY OLD ACCOUNT IS NOT DOING ANYTHING!!!!!! AND BEST OF ALL AFRIHOST IS BLOCKING TORRENTS - I CANT EVEN DOWNLOAD ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HI there Nicolette.

I hope you are well.

I See that you are on the new network.
Please log in and change back to the old username and password.
I do apologize for the issue you are having.
Hope you have a great Friday.

Have a great day and please let me know if I can help with anything else!

Warm regards

Marcello.V

PLEASE FIX MY ADSL LINE. I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK TO THE OLD PATHETIC ACCOUNT I HAD AS IT WAS NOT WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE TRAIN YOUR STAFF TO ACTUALLY HANDLE ISSUES AND PROBLEMS CORRECTLY AND NOT JUST CHANGE THINGS BACK TO SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT WORKING IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JESUS!!!!!!

Sorry to hear you're seeing troubles here. The experiences, specifically on Afrigreen, has been quite good.
While I'm happy to help, let's work together on this - in a civil manner. It is Friday after all :)

Your old account is still active, I think something else is going wrong here. Would you be able to paste any test results here?

let's work together on this

I'm just "guessing" here...but I think people are getting gatvol of paying for a service, but having to do diagnostic tests every 2 out of 3 times they wanna do something on the internet.

The whole point is paying for a service, is that as much as Afrihost does not care how their customers go out and make their money that is required to pay for the product that AH is selling, the customers just as much doesn't care how the service "provider", provides said service. All they want is to go home after work and enjoy a bit of internet (gaming/streaming etc) with the family. It is a real drag when you want to watch something, and have to get up to post the tracert etc. Any normal person would want to talk to their service providers AS LITTLE as possible.

At the end of the day, yes, the new Afrigreen network is POC...fine...I get that...BUT, you have to have a standard Afrihost account to get access to that AG account right? Now, while those accounts are being paid for in full, the service provider should do one of 2 things here...either freeze any payments for the people helping you test this POC network, because lets face it...they ARE doing you a massive favour!!...or number 2, immediately remove any links to the "old" ADSL products that are not working "as advertised"...no proof needed...just check MyBB in the last couple of months for all the posts backing up this statement.

...and with this I wish you all a great weekend :D I'll be online...on VOX, the "working" service provider ;D

And that's understandable, but let's troubleshoot where we can. At the end of the day, it's all what the POC is about - it's being moulded by feedback posted here.

Afrihost should provide the bandwidth for free to every person on the POC network. And I'm NOT talking about 1Gb or 10Gb's. I'm talking about UNLIMITTED data!

Somewhere earlier (can't remember who) AfriGuy/AfriGenie/someone said that the POC needs to be tested in REAL WORLD CONDITIONS, but then, why would a customer pay for data, only to waste it doing tests FOR the company where they bought the data from in the first place?

NO!!! This is daylight robbery! For the guys patient enough to post tracert's 100 times a day, come and post their "test results" online or on AH page, they SHOULD get unlimited data usage FOR FREE!!!

This **** has gone on long enough now!!

That's not really how the POC has been setup though, current account profiles are duplicated. So if you have a 10GB Capped account, 2Mbps Uncapped or 40Mbps Business account - that's what you'll get on Afrigreen, for free.

No one is forcing you to test on the network.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Downloading a torrent on Afrigreen on my 10Mb line (which only ever syncs at 6Mb at most) and I'm achieving a mind-numbing 2kB/s; checked to see if someone hadn't removed my router and replaced it with the old dial-up modem that's stuffed somewhere at the back of a cupboard; reset the router a couple of times: still no better; switched back to the old AH account and we're back to around the 500kB/s mark which is much more like it.

Yesterday afternoon we had repeated disconnections on the AG network.

When will this end? When will I get the service for which I'm paying?

Those don't sound like the best results :(
Which account type are you using? Capped, Business or Uncapped?

Only problem is even with unlimited data I couldn't actually squeeze much more out even if I tried, 50Gb is a credible achievement, 100Gb in a month is pretty good going, any more is a miracle! :D

Should be OK. I know we've been running tweaks today, posted an announcement earlier about P2P so it may be slow due to that.
What do your other downloads look like?

Just looked back through the posts and seen the announcement. Doh. Other downloads are ok; so I should wait until after 10 and then switch back to AG.

Sounds like it is affecting you :(
Unless you try a few tweaks on your end, perhaps try another torrent app?

the reason why I mentioned "free data", is that, well, in exchange for helping AH test, the cost of bandwidth should not come out of the customer's pocket.

Offering free bandwidth will most likely promote better testing, as users will be able to "do more" on the internet...or at least try to, which should then at the end of the day provide decent network "stress-testing", as apparently what Afrihost wants to happen (AfriREP mentioned something along those lines earlier...to lazy to go back and quote).

Hey Guys

Just wanted to post this here first, you may also receive a mailer shortly with the same. This is directly from the network team, just to express their gratitude to everyone that has been participating and contributing to the project. Definitely goes the same for the reps here on MyBB (and everyone at Afrihost :)

"Thank you for participating in the Afrigreen POC and sharing your experience with us.

Our POC team have been testing different ways to offer the best possible experience under different network conditions and we believe we're making great progress.

Experience has taught us that when it comes to a large network, no amount of lab tests can replicate real internet usage.

We greatly appreciate your feedback and participation.

Thank you again and apologies for the bumps along the way. "

Again - sincere thanks to everyone here. You guys are really awesome :)

there...
