isn't updates supposed to be scheduled for after hours when the impact is minimal?

Nope... Here at Afrigreen we wait until everyone gets home and then we also don't do it properly so we are reverting also when people want to use the internet.

Afrigreen semi decent latency at the cost of massive bloody timeouts

Business uncapped, feels like I'm wading through molasses pages take forever to load and just generally are not great, lets not forget about the rather insane amounts of packet loss tho...

The testing and updates take place throughout the day, but yes, I do think we could perhaps look at slightly better timing.

I switched back to Afrigreen earlier this evening because I couldn't stream on the regular account, and I must say it's been outstanding. Streaming started working perfectly, Youtube was much better and download speeds are pretty much 1MB/s (8Mbit connection).

The previous occasion I used Afrigreen was good too, but it died on me and I had to switch back.

You do realise this is just a POC network right?

We'll sort out the dying part. If your experience is good when things are running as they should - then we're on the right track :)

For interest sake, does the Afrigreen data roll over to next month? I have downgraded my Afrihost package until they have sorted out all the issues. So will my test account also drop to 1GB from tomorrow?

The team were running some software updates that unfortunately meant the kit had to be rebooted several times :(

Should be done for a while now, hopefully.

Only topups would rollover for the moment. We may change the rules in the future, but for now we're keeping all the same.

OK thanks, then I will unfortunately not be able to do anymore testing from tomorrow.

Hey Guys

Just wanted to post this here first, you may also receive a mailer shortly with the same. This is directly from the network team, just to express their gratitude to everyone that has been participating and contributing to the project. Definitely goes the same for the reps here on MyBB (and everyone at Afrihost :)

"Thank you for participating in the Afrigreen POC and sharing your experience with us.

Our POC team have been testing different ways to offer the best possible experience under different network conditions and we believe we're making great progress.

Experience has taught us that when it comes to a large network, no amount of lab tests can replicate real internet usage.

We greatly appreciate your feedback and participation.

Thank you again and apologies for the bumps along the way. "

Again - sincere thanks to everyone here. You guys are really awesome :)

No signs of AfriBlue?

Looks as if Afrihost are leaning towards AfriGreen?

We want to work on getting Afrigreen running to it's full potential before we open up Afriblue.
It'll be a silly move to push another POC live without having one setup to benchmark correctly.
