Tried to connect or our TS server. started at 1400ms ping then went down to 100ms over a few min. I find that if i DL a game patch i cannot browse the web. Seems if that was taking priority.

Do you have an QoS enabled on your modem? Are you using the default AfriGreen DNS Servers? Which game's patch were you downloading?

On AfriGreen since this morning. On 20mb VDSL from PE.

Generally pretty good experience, Youtube 1080p no problems, Torrent runs up to 2.5MB/s consistently. VoIP good. Browsing can be very rapid, except for the glitch round 15:00 today (CR during business hours, naughty)

Latency higher than normal due to route via JHB instead of CPT so expected, but this I found interesting:
Speedtest.net to Afrihost/Gallo Manor, 68ms
Speedtest.net to Telkom SAIX/Randburg, 52ms

Faster to Telkom than Afrihost, also the throughput is more consistent at 18.5 to Telkom. To Afrihost it varies between 8 and 18.

EDIT: Apple iTunes updates at 2.5MB/s - also very good.

Not sure if the DSL2750U has QoS. I never changed dns. Set router with new username and rebooted. Game was GTA V

Ping while in-game on BF4 was 44ms, Teamspeak was 326ms.

Bf4 ping is fake, the only way to see the true ping is to enable the netgraph ingame.

Probably true. As in-game 60% of time i have the 3 square blocks on the screen. Flippen frustrating. was not like this a year ago.

Packet loss

Yip. that's it. So is this ISP or my side. Don't see many guys complaining about the symbols besides the lag. I had to laugh. GTAV update stared and it said 1 min remaining. 20 min later it finished, prob a developer timing issue that :)

Must admit 720p on youtube much better

Even though it show packet loss. gameplay is still smooth.

I cannot open YT at the moment page loads forever ... ... Can barely browse right now for some reason (both accounts)

Is this really what R1600 gets us ...

AFRIHOST ... GET IT TOGETHER ALREADY !!!

Just got my details today but was out with clients all afternoon and then had a candle light dinner courtesy of ESKOM.
As a result I only managed to start testing after 8PM and so far it appers to suffer the same fate as Afrihost/MTN during the evening.
I am getting a maximum streaming rate of 150KBs on a 10Meg line. Adequate for one SD stream but far from the Multiple HD Streams I used to get in the golden days of Afrihost.

I have cancelled most of my accounts and have suspended my home account, so far I have seen nothing that would persuade me otherwise. The next 2 days will decide if the suspension is lifted or I move to VOX whilst the special is on.

Just tried to play on a BF 4 MWEB (MWEB]gMz BF4 CPT #Mirage Lockers 24/7server) and got kicked twice within 2 minutes using the Afrigreen account : Game disconnected: you were kicked by an admin. Stated reason: Sorry, players from United States are not allowed.

True to the Afrihost Profile streaming never exceeded 150KBs between 8PM and 11PM.

I started the same stream again at 11:10 PM as a test, and instantly hit 1.07MBs.

The south IPC is definitely on some kind of timer. I find it hard to believe that traffic picks up then drops off like a vertical cliff, spot on 11PM every evening, on both the Afrihost/MTN and Afrihost/Green networks.

Browsing seems to be a bit slow tonight.

Torrents are going at good speed.

Youtube also seems fine at 720p (which downloading torrent), once the page loads that is.

Uploading is really slow tonight too. Taking around 30 minutes to upload 13mb to gmail.

Took 5 minutes to upload 1mb image to skype.

I am only able to test at night, but thus far NNTP and Torrents that I tried out seemed to work amicably. Testing torrents is only useful (in my case) for some software products that still use either P2P-like protocols or otherwise.

I will try and burn down Youtube tonight and see how it goes at various streaming qualities.

Browsing already seems somewhat better.

Just experienced such bad packet loss ... had to switch back to my reg AH account ...

Dota was a slide show ... downloading kept dropping ... ... argh

from this post and your other post, definitely something weird on your connection. Ran some tests from my house last night and we definitely didn't see any packet loss on my Capped account.

Are you on Capped, Uncapped, Business?

There is no South IPC, so the policies and rules on AfriGreen apply to everyone in the country (all Afrigreen users are using a single IPC). The only differentiator would be the backhaul used to reach certain destinations. We would definitely see everyone in the south seeing exactly the same results if backhaul was congested (which I don't believe is the case).

If you can give us steps to replicate, I'll be happy to test as well.
