Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

My connection keeps dropping - like every 5-10 minutes it disconnects and then comes back a few minutes later.

I'm on Afrigreen. Is this part of the network migration?

You definitely shouldn't be seeing line drops like that. The migration elements still being worked on should not cause any interruption (if so, we'd definitely give a heads up here). Do you get this on any account you use, like your @afrihost.co.za account?

Moved over to Afrigreen yesterday, so far so good as far as browsing etc goes.

I am however a little puzzled as to how the migration affects remaining data.

The free 1 gig package is gone - with an invite to sign up (had it on afrinormal)
My usage on my normal capped package (double data) appears to be incorrect - have double what I know I should have?

You are absolutely right, we have dropped the ball here and let you down. But I don't think we should give up on your query, you need some answers and it's our job to get them for you.

Let me get involved and figure out what is going on here. I'll get someone from our Critical Care department to call you go through this with a fine tooth comb to make sure every aspect of your query gets sorted.

Please PM me your account and contact details and I promise you will get the help you've been asking for :(

Account details PM'd

For the record, I don't really have a query - basically it boils down to my statement that the folk from your ClientZone continually claims that faults are with the clients/Telkom's hardware, when in my case, sufficient proof have been supplied to prove the fault is with AH. AfriGuy and AfriGenie felt this kind of response from CZ is not right and asked me to pm them the details to check it out and provide me with feedback.

The annoying part is - they offered, I did not ask for help, yet there is no delivery (so why offer in the first place?) :)

Anyways - before I cry a river ....... pm sent :p

Once again, thx for your assitance ;)

PS: Can you confirm if my account (or all the afrigreen accounts have been migrated to the new network?). Merely asking, as I sometimes still have lag spikes, but not sure if I should remain patient as I am not on the new network yet.

I'm not sure - don't have access to the router at the moment.

But this hasn't happened before. Can you see anything from your side as to why it might be happening? You should have my details as I've given it a number of times.

This will all normalise when we are completely over to the new network and we have everyone on a single realm again. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If anything seems amiss, just PM me and I'll check it out :)

I have to delete my PM's regularly becuase otherwise my mailbox gets full. I may still have them, but would be best to drop them to me just in case.

I'm running on AfriGreen myself at home, no issues like this whatsoever and none that I have heard reported :(

I'll see if the problem persists and let you know.

Always a pleasure to help - let's get this issue squared away.

The answer I got from the network team is that it's not a turn key solution. It's a lengthy process. We are definitely mostly migrated but the entire process still has some issues to be finalised before every user is getting the full AfriGreen experience that we envision. For the most part, we're pretty much there :)

Thanks, will keep an eye on data...hope capping does not occur as a result of potentially incorrect data reflecting in clientzone!

Do I need to sign up again for the free gig on afrigreen account or will this migrate as well?

No it will all move over eventually. I wouldn't worry about it too much :)

Any particular reason why you are routing local traffic via international breakouts?

Afriman, Ive been on the Afrigreen network since before you started to move over to the production network. Now according to you everyone on afrigreen atm is on the production network, expecially the people in the north (Pta here). My experience of the network yesterday has been very spotty. While streaming I cannot browse. When doing nothing some pages take a while to load as if downloads are running.

My experience on afrigreen the last 2 days have been worse than before you moved over to the production network. Any advise?

Hi Afriman,

Reported Hop 3 latency a couple of days ago.
See the routing has changed since my last trace however Hop 3 is still showing latency [below].
Interestingly there's nothing on bras.afrihost.com [see below]
