Afrihost Pure DSL

rather abysmal of Openserve to take this long with an installation. I was eagerly waiting for a call today to schedule an installation today or Monday at least. I understand it is 14 working days but man, we already lost a week with those API issues. I have my last set of exams next week and I'm hoping my mobile data lasts till after they come :p:cautious: @cavedog does openserve do installations on weekends ?

For DSL I doubt. Openserve is doing dsl installations themselves where as with fibre they outsourcing to contractors and they do installations during weekends.

So I applied for Afrihost Pure DSL a week ago. The copper line coming into my house has been dead for about 6 months after I successfully cancelled all previous services on the line from Telkom and ported my landline number over to Freshphone.

So yesterday I decided to plug my VDSL router into my copper line just to see what would happen since I placed my order with Afrihost last week. To my surprise my VDSL router synced successfully with the exchange, however there doesn't appear to be any access to the PPPOE concentrator at the exchange because I can't connect to any ADSL account. My order still shows as pending in my clientzone. Could this sudden ability to sync with the exchange have anything to do with the order I placed with Afrihost? Bare in mind that I haven't heard anything from Openserve yet, and no technician has been to my house. I should also add there is no dial tone on the line at all either, which is what I would expect from a naked DSL service.

Now that is interesting development! Perhaps you could try activating it, as it is probably classified as a new line?

That activation process is for normal Telkom ADSL lines. I doubt it would be the same process with a naked DSL product obtained through an ISP, especially seeing as there's no telephone number associated with the line.

I doubt but drop me your clienzone email let me see what the Openserve order number shows on the Openserve portal. ;)

Isn't there a way to (via the Client Zone) find out what the status of an order is on the Openserve portal?

Okay so Openserve activated my line however Vox hasn't activated my service yet. If I wanted to try the service from Afrihost how would that work?

Just as a matter of interest how did you know they were supposed to install today?
I think he meant that the 14 days period for installation as stated on Afrihost's website is ending today and he has not received any information regarding the installation yet.

I must admit this was the one thing that concerned me the most when I applied for the PureDSL. Openserve's service as part of the package and the more I read into this the more I realize that having PureDSL/NakedDSL will be the same as in history. ISP's are eager to please but Openserve/Telkom will dissapoint and the ISP's will just throw their hands in the air!

I'm also interested to know coz so far I've received 0 feedback from openserve. No call, no SMS. All I have is an order number Cavedog gave me

I am in exactly the same boat as you. My 14th day will be this coming Wednesday and cavedog updated me by saying Openserve allocated a service number to the order but as for actual installation... nothing

Same here, got an order number and service number thanks to Cavedog, but no contact from Openserve yet at all.

I'm curious how they know which pair of copper wires at the DSLAM match up to the copper wires going into your house? Anyone know from a technical point of view?

Eish, well that is bad!

Lol! This is not looking good but to be honest I expected nothing less from Openserve (Hellkom).. I too have received absolutely no form of communication from them and my 14th day is also coming up soon.

We are all in this shitstorm together my brothers! Just praying that by some miracle I get a call from them before the end of this week.
