Afrihost Pure DSL

Lol! This is not looking good but to be honest I expected nothing less from Openserve (Hellkom).. I too have received absolutely no form of communication from them and my 14th day is also coming up soon.

We are all in this shitstorm together my brothers! Just praying that by some miracle I get a call from them before the end of this week.
Couldn't have said it better :-D I sometimes wonder if Openserve is being salty as it is Afrihost ordering naked ADSL. I wonder if we signed up for Telkoms naked ADSL deal, how quick would they be done with the installation and everything

Well according to the technician I have a cabling issue. So they need someone from cabling to attend to it first and reschedule activation. What a lie because I had DSL before.

That is a very interesting point that you raise @mathebus..

Knowing telkom I wouldnt be surprised if that was genuinely the case! They no doubt would give top priority to those signing up directly with them and try to "spite" others who go through Afrihost/Vox.

But to be completely honest, I would rather wait an extra couple of weeks for an installation, than ever sign up with Telkom again.. I wouldnt trust Telkom to tell me the time in a room full of clocks XD

Sounds like an excuse to me... Instead of owning up to the fact that they are taking longer than they should have.. They make some bulls*** excuse to work around it. TYPICAL TELKOM/OPENSERVE

Ok so just to comprehend and summarize the situation, I and if not most others on this thread are having regarding Afrihost Pure DSL.

-I ordered Pure DSL on the 10th of June (launch day)
-Received no feedback from Afrihost or Openserve
-17th June Cavedog informed me that there was an API issue and my order was manually placed that morning. Received order number from Cavedog, meaning that Openserve accepted the order and I must await their call for schedule of installation
-installation can take up to 14 working days.
-in essence if my order (and so many others) only went through on the 17th, that means today, Monday the 22 June 2020, is only the 4th day of the 14 working days installation might take. fml. correct me if i am wrong please.
-if your order miraculously went through on the 10th June, then today, 22 June is the 9th day of your 14 day installation window.
-Openserve yet to call or SMS most of us.
-@elriconess has received feedback and has an installation date after Openserve not pitching the first time; 24th

I have no idea where the @ Afri guys are as I feel very much in the dark. Only help is @cavedog

hi guys

I too ordered my Naked DSL on launch day, 10 June. According to @cavedog my order was manually added to the Openserve portal on Monday 15th June. Today at about 16h15 Openserve called me to know if they could send a technician tomorrow (Tuesday 23 June) to do the installation.

Lets see what happens.

I know you are left a bit in the dark here so sorry about that but I can assure you that once the order is in with Openserve they will not even entertain a follow up until the turnaround time has been reach. Most clients that ordered had the order placed with Openserve a few hours after order. There has been quite a number of orders placed and this is a manual process at the moment.

Also installation times will vary depending on the location and availability of Openserve technicians.

No problemo :p thanks cavedog. I'm just growing a little impatient coz it feels like an eternity.
alrighty, let me get back to the WWDC burning through my mobile data lol ;):p

Thanks for the heads up on that.

Availability of some is currently decreased:

(... and some now have a metaphysical location ...)
Add that and the Ransomware issues they are still having and yeah, its expected to see an increase in delays, technicians hesitant to go to exchanges and areas and all of that jazz. But the technician I spoke to a few days ago mentioned just how overbooked they are, nice guy though sorted out the issue. Then webafrica told me (3 days after it was sorted) that they didn't get any notification from Openserve and will be escalating the ticket...

Well Telkom technician is here. @cavedog he acknowledges that 4 wires come in but doesn’t know about installing on the spare two.

So I can’t exactly tell him how to do his install. Am I now going to get my naked dsl only to be disconnected when they disconnect my voice service?

Ohh no. So what the Technician can do is with the extra pair of copper wires move them to a new socket and connect them up. At the corner of the street trace the second pair of copper wires and connect them to a spare line from the DP to exchange.

This exactly the same process that was followed when they installed your current line. Same applies to the extra pair of copper wires and same will apply when you want to have 2 voice lines for example.

I left him finishing up as I had to leave for work. But it seems he did install on the extra wires as he said both (current & naked) DSL will be connected. This is his first Naked DSL install and he confirmed Telkom could have done this all along there was nothing stopping them from having a naked DSL.

I just gave him a call he said the new line is working with the test he did, but my router is still connected to the old DSL as the other one must be verified etc.

So all looks good to go. Lets see how long until Openserve mark it as complete on their side and Afrihost can do their thing. FINALLY!!!! Bye bye voice line

That is the link that you verify adsl/vdsl. You can use the order number and Service number to do that. I'm not 100% sure if the same applies with Pure Connect but you can try it. The order is still open on Openserve side. :)
