Afrihost Pure DSL

I'm confused with all of this. Did everyone that is getting connected to the Naked ADSL side of things cancel their Telkom line rental first (which seems to take at least till the end of the month), and then wait for openserve to do the installation/reconfiguring of their line?

I didn't have any line connection. Was on LTE. Did have ADSL about 2 years ago though so I do have a line connected to the property

I have to say, if I didn't have a friend who knew someone who works for Openserve my installation probably wouldn't happened today. Still waiting on the techie to call me but I thought it should be known that Openserve is not taking the 14 day rule serious at all

I'm jealous you know someone, lucky guy  I'm waiting and waiting. I've even resorted to praying for a call from them

I haven't cancelled anything yet, I simply applied for PureDSL through Afrihost. Once it's 100% operational and active I'll start cancelling everything else I don't need.

Yeah I was feeling the same and told my friend about my frustration. That is how I found out he knew someone. Unfortunately this is in George, Western Cape otherwise I would ask him to help

Thanks, does make me feel like I should make a plan as I know someone who knows someone who knows someone
Out of curiosity, it's almost 11am. Did they pitch ?

Same this side. It's funny how when I ordered I was giving it till next week, then the next, now here I am again, Thursday, giving it till the next. My standards have seriously dropped  quick! Let's blame 2020

Yes they pitched and it is sorted. Now I am waiting for Openserve to set the order as "Completed" so that Afrihost can send me my ADSL login details.

But @cavedog confirmed the line is syncing so I am sure it will work.

On that, I would just like to give a huge shoutout to @cavedog. He/She is one awesome member on MyBB and really made this whole process a lot smoother! Thank you!!!! Thank you!!!

Absolute nightmare trying to get Pure DSL from aifrhost.

I placed the order on 13 June, followed up religiously and was told very rudely each time to be patient and that they will process my order when they get to it.

Today I followed up again and found out that the request for Openserve to install was only put through on 23 June because Afrihosts portal was offline. Now I have to wait another 14 days to get assisted.

Sorry to hear man.. Openserve is notorious for their lack of urgency and making excuses to justify bad levels of service delivery.

If it makes you feel any better there are many of us here in the forum who are going through the exact same thing.. The long walk to freedom (internet) continues my friends:ROFL:

Hey there

Yes I saw this trouble coming a mile away. If you read my previous posts here on MyBB you'll see I said that we are all going to have the same experiences as before naked ADSL was introduced where all the ISP's want to chase the business and Telkom(Now Openserve) just makes the whole process unbearable.

I know Openserve's portal was offline due to some sort of crash. I placed my order with Afrihost on 10 June and everything was fine from their side.

Good luck with the process, it is not going to be an easy one

Hopefully @AfriFella @AfriGuy @cavedog can assist you once Openserve comes to the party because from what I've gathered they cannot do anything except wait for Openserve to do their part before Afrihost can provide you with internet.

Also orderd puredsl on 11June - haven't heard a peep since....

I've just found out from our neighbourhood Whatsapp group that Openserve is officially starting their fibre installation in our area next week. We've had surveyors from Nokia/Huawei coming to inspect all the Telkom poles, presumably where they're going to string the fibre along. @cavedog, do you think that could put a spanner in the works with my ADSL order? It'll probably be a few months before the fibre goes live anyway, so I would want to carry on with the order, but I wonder if Openserve will cancel my order now that it's been officially confirmed that they will be deploying fibre in my area.
