Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Hi.

Which router are you using? You can share the ticket reference so I can see what has been done and previous tests to the ONT.
I don't not have a recent open/support ticket. Afrihost was not able to resolve this after the many attempts over several months to explain why I'm not getting the speeds I pay for. The router I have is the one supplied by you guys - Huawei AX3 WiFi6 Fibre Router.

Please drop me a PM with your email address or account number.

@Afrigirl this is an old ticket from Nov, FRY-475-84154. I've just been told to run all these tests and provide the results. Nothing has improved my speeds; hence I have come here for advice.

Here are my settings which give me about 200mb speed:

Do you stay in a complex? You could have interference from your neighbours wifi. Best to download a wifi channel scanner on the laptop like acrylic to see which channels are occupied and then select the open one in your settings. Using a narrower bandwidth can help with interference so will have more stable speed but slower.

Thank you. I have located the ticket; you never responded with any test on the ticket.
I will need you to connect the ONT and share tests directly from the ONT and tests while connected to the router by LAN connection.

Network adapter properties from the device you will be using to test.
Please ensure that you are using a cat5e or higher LAN cable.

I will need you to dial up PPPoE to the ONT and share tests directly from the ONT as well as tests while connected to the router by LAN connection.

I'm happy to run these tests again, but like I said I've ran these tests so many times, connected via LAN and directly to ONT as I explained.

I understand, recent tests will do. So we can troubleshoot the core issue here.

You get full speeds with LAN so there is nothing support will be able to do imho because technically, there isn't a problem.

Thanks for the help @wingnut771 and @Afrigirl. I've permanently switched out the old cable with the new one. I will monitor the speeds over the next while
As a rule thumb. If the speed is just under 100mbps on a line higher than 100mbps the it will always be your lan cables.
