Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Not getting buffer issues my end even on 4k videos uploaded as recent as 20 minutes ago.

I had a look I don't see anything concerning on our cache. We have 2 cache servers in Teraco that fills from our JHB, CPT and JHB Google NNI and the fill has 100% fill rate no restransmits so even if content is uncached it should be good still.

Can you confirm if you are still served from the DUR cache?

Thanks for checking, it's been behaving since my last bitching session:

The data reported before the graph shows much higher usage vs the graphs , it’s almost half the data use

I’m on Vuma Aerial

@Afrigirl

Just checking...I signed up for a new fibre install at a new address, the signup procedure made it seem like no billing would occur until it had been established that fibre services were live & available at this location but I was billed R249 as soon as the signup was complete?

Hi.

The router delivery fee is billed as soon as the order has been placed successfully with the FNO.

So what happens if next week it's determined that I can't get fibre at this premises - is that refunded?

You wouldn't be able to signup for Fibre at your place if it wasn't available, as your address is checked when the order is being processed, so if for some reason they can't go through with the order, they will have to refund you as it wasn't your fault unless you made a fault somewhere in the process

Yes, it will be refunded if the FNO does not proceed with the installation and you have no other provider.

Ja I just know from previous experience when it comes to business parks etc. it's sometimes a bit hit & miss - signup says it's fine but then there's an issue when the fibre team arrive to check physical access.

For which FNO did you sign up for?
Please note that some FNOs dont allow us, as Afrihost, to place an order for a Business unit. Because we only offer FTTH.

Only Octotel was available for this address.

**Notice**

We have lost our primary links between CPT <> JHB. Clients will experience increased latency and packet loss as we automatically rerouted to our backup links.

A mojor fibre break between Touwsrivier & Laingsburg has knocked most of our NLD capacity between JHB and CPT offline coupled with a fault in Marseille causing our JHB to Marseille direct route via Liquid Telecoms to be down is causing increased latency between JHB and CPT.

Teams are localizing the point of break.

Please make sure you use Afrihost DNS as we have enough caches for most content in each region and the impact currently is minimal.

I've also been having YT buffering issue from about 16:00 on wards for multiple days, doesn't matter the quality. I have given up really. Cancellation cant come sooner. 300/300 Balwin, Cape Town.
