Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Is anything going on with the Xbox network? Download speeds are terrible and keeps failing. Tested steam and it's absolutely flying. Tried different DNS servers with the same result.

Hey
You can check in command prompt where the traffic will be served from.

nslookup tlu.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com

If you see something like 199. as the IP then it's from fastly and generally it's slow. I have logged it with Fastly but it seems the source is slow. Microsoft does rotate it a bit so if you keep checking and see something like 77. or 169. then it's from Akamai or our cache, and if you start the download, it will be fast.

We host a Microsoft cache but it seems on Windows 11 they don't use it that much. I will log it with Microsoft to see if there is anything that can be done.

We have 2 caches with a total of 70Gbps egress capacity.

Thanks, that did help a bit, went from under 1mps to about 11. Xbox's are stuck at about 2Mbps though. Very strange and it's only MS. Steam rockets at over 500Mbps. Strange thing is MS goes to over 500Mbps every now and then but then drops to slow. Usually, I know it will cap at around 200Mbps max, so definitely not operating the same as usual. Thanks for checking, I've been expirementing with different upstream DNS, bypassed my Pihole and all sorts but nothing seems to be helping much.

why dont you guys steer traffic to it via DNS?

Can anyone tell me why every upload site I try seems to start off fast (100mbps) and then eats putty (1-20mbps) after a few seconds?

Can someone test these for me?

GDrive is fine. Hits 180mbps up. I have a 250/250 MFN line.

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic

What is going on with the Octotel line speeds. Asked about when relevant changes would take affect and received the following,

"Hi, we do apologise for the confusion. The only speed changes that were made was that the 75/75 package would no longer be available and would now be 100/100, however, clients who are already on 75/75 would stay on the package unless a request from the ISP is put through for an upgrade."

However my client zone says I'm on 100/100 but I'm only receiving 75/75.

Thanks.

Hi.

Where is this response from?

Did you receive your package change email address in April?

Using Brave, Anon seems ok, bouncing between 60-120mbps upload right now. Shot for the site btw.

Buzz is still buggered. Hitting only 4-7mbps....But....when I change browser from Brave (which is my main) to Edge which I never use...my upload shoots up to 80-110mbps consistently.

Weirdly, it's the inverse with Anon. Slow on Edge (20mbps), fast on Brave. Then when I go back to Brave and try again, it's slow as Edge. Bruh...

Sigh...time to F around with that now...

Many thanks for testing.

It was received directly from their x.com support channel.

I haven't received anything via my Gmail account.

Too add, "The line needs to be configured to 100 on our end too hence we need the change request from them. We can only action requests logged to us via our portal"

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic can this be sorted.

Thank you.
Please share a screenshot. I will check with the Fibre Ops team to find out if it was an Afrihost choice, or there was a push from Octotel.

Please check the spam folder for the email.

I've checked both spam and trash bin. No email received.

I'd like to stay on the 100/100
